In my last prayer update I mentioned my upcoming trip to Hawaii for meetings of the Road to Jerusalem – a vision of Promisekeepers’ Founder Coach Bill McCartney to foster reconciliation between Jews and Gentiles. I was recruited to help organize prayer support and facilitate the endorsement of Pray California; I was also asked to give input in terms of the Biblical foundations. I have been an enthusiastic supporter. In the prayer update I said that I brought serious concerns about the administration of the project to Hawaii.

In Honolulu I met with members of the national core team, including the national president, Dr. Raleigh Washington. During these meetings I repeatedly expressed my commitment to the project and my concern that it be a blessing to all of the Body as the leaders intend. I also expressed concern about what I perceive to be inconsistent messages from the core team (and from others speaking for the ministry), factually incorrect rationales for the prophetic activities, confused and conflicting expectations of volunteers and supporters, and a cavalier attitude toward some in various parts of the world who are already alienated from this ministry. I indicated that I could not recommend participation/endorsement by Pray California – or PrayNorthstate – in the absence of the clarifications I was seeking. When Dr. Washington told me very directly that such input from people outside of the core team was unwelcome – and that my questions could not and would not be answered until some time in the future – I agreed to hold my questions until then – so long as he understood that the endorsement sought by the team would also have to be on hold. He indicated agreement on this, but went even farther – demanding that I agree to ask no questions and make no comments of any kind during the remaining meetings or be barred from further participation. Inasmuch as he admitted that no such demand had been made of anyone else I could not agree to this and withdrew from the meetings and the project.

To their credit the team reimbursed me for the cost of airfare to Hawaii. I urge all of us to continue to pray for God’s will in this project, and for the outpouring of His grace on all concerned. However, I must recommend complete non-involvement otherwise – inasmuch as I now believe the project has more potential to divide than to unite and to offend than to reconcile. God can redeem all things; may He bless Road to Jerusalem.
