ShastaCounty will commemorate September 11 on Thursday, September 9, at 12:00Noon on the steps of the county courthouse. Co-sponsored by PrayNorthstate, RegentBroadcasting, the Deputy Sheriff’s Association, and the Jail Chaplaincy, the event will feature addresses by Assemblyman Doug LaMalfa, County Administrative Officer Doug Latimer, and nationally syndicated talk show host Michael Reagan. County Jail Chaplain Pastor Dave Honey and PrayNorthstate Coordinator the Rev. James Wilson will also speak. Patriotic and sacred music performed by Donna White and Bill Thomas will be featured. Ken Murray will serve as master of ceremonies and portions of the event will be broadcast on AM 1400 KQMS during the 5:00 PM news hour. A box-type lunch will be served to the first two hundred participants and the event will conclude at 1:00 PM.
This annual event comes about as the result of a partnership between individuals representing the public and private sectors and the faith community. It is held on the courthouse steps as a way of honoring and blessing our nation and the larger regional community of which Shasta County is the hub. This honoring and blessing assumes an even greater priority in the atmosphere of our nation’s war on terror in the wake of the attacks on September 11, 2001. Speakers are asked to share equal parts of their patriotism and their faith – their love of our people and their vision for our region.
Doug LaMalfa is Shasta County’s representative in the California State Assembly. Doug Latimer has served as the County Administrative Officer of Shasta County since 1995. Michael Reagan is the son of the late President Ronald Reagan, a nationally syndicated talk show host since 1992, and the author of On the OutsideLooking In; a tribute to his father titles The Common Sense of An Uncommon Man – both bestsellers – and the soon-to-be released autobiographical work, Twice Adopted.
Michael Reagan will be speaking at the ReddingConvention Center on ThursdayEvening on the themes developed in his latest book – his adoption by the Reagan family and his adoption by the Lord Jesus Christ. He lives with his family in Sherman Oaks

At 7:00 PM on the evening of Thursday, September 9, nationally syndicated talk show host Michael Reagan will appear at Redding’s Convention Center. Reagan’s appearance is co-sponsored by Mellberg Construction Company and Regent Broadcasting Company. Tickets are available at the Convention Center box office. Tickets are priced at $26.00 for general admission and $76.00 for VIP admission.
