JANUARY 2012 ISSUE – VOL. 12 #1
The Rev. Jim and Diana Wilson, Coordinators
Dear People of the Northstate Vision:
Epiphany is a Greek word that means to manifest or show forth the reality of
who or what we are. It is also the name of the traditional church season that
begins with the visit of the Wise Men to Bethlehem – in Hebrew the House of
Bread, in which the One who is called the Bread of Life is born – and ends with
the temptation of Jesus in the wilderness when He says the true bread is every
word that proceeds from the mouth of Abba Father. Wow! As we enter this season
in January the Lord is manifesting and showing forth.
In the larger season into which 2012 fits more and more members of the Body
are risking comfort, finances, and fellowship to gather in specified locations
to repent on behalf of the Church for shutting God out of our corporate life
while we either look the other way at the disintegration of our culture or blame
those who do not know the Lord for the chaos. I recall a vision the Lord sent
in 1998 in which the Church was depicted as making crafts projects from the
shells and rocks on a beach while a tsunami loomed over them – telling themselves
they were preparing offerings to God while God in Christ was surfing the tsunami
they failed to notice. The Son was calling us to look at Him instead of our
projects. The Father was calling then and now for a culture of repentance in
His Body. That doesn’t mean He wants us to whip our bodies; it means He wants
us to turn our heads.
It is Epiphany and God is calling through John the Baptist’s voice – Elijah
who was to come – for a people bearing the fruit of repentance. The old hymn
says, “I am the bread of life; they who come to me shall not hunger…No one comes
to me unless the Father draw them, and I shall raise them up…on the last day.”
It is Epiphany in Bethlehem. Let us be wise.
CURRENTPrayNorthstateEVENTS
• A Gospel of Power is offered at St. James Anglican Church, Sonora, Friday,
January 13 (7-9:30 PM) and Saturday, January 14 (9-5). Gospel sounds the call
of God for a Fourth Great Awakening in the Body of Christ in the United States
and especially in California – the cradle of contemporary revivals. It explores
the connection between the dynamics released in healing prayer and the welcoming
of revival. Sessions include training and hands-on practice for both physical
and inner healing, how God releases authority through our submission, and how
we can return to an original culture of covenant. Of course there will be prayer
for healing offered. There is no charge, although love offerings will be received
for PrayNorthState. Call us at 530-941-3470 for info.
• Everything we know about revival and transformation are in the pages of The
Holy Spirit and the End Times. All we have to offer on reconciliation – the
pre-requisite for transformation – is found in Living as Ambassadors of Relationships.
These books are recommended reading from the Miracle Channel (Living As…) and
the International Healing Rooms (Holy Spirit) in addition to the major league
endorsements they carry. They sell for $16.00, but we offer the set for $25.00.
Prices include taxes; a $5.00 shipping charge is added to shipped orders. This
is the perfect time to give Jim’s books as Christmas or other kinds of gifts
– the earlier ordered the better. Diana’s jewelry can also be ordered – your
order supports our ministry. E-mail praynorthstate@charter.net or call 530-941-3470.
• Jim’s books are also available in Redding at Bibles, Books and More, 2025
Hilltop; Holy Family Bookstore, Churn Creek at Hartnell; and Eagle’s Nest at
Bethel Church. They are at Barnes and Noble and on line at Amazon.com.

WHAT’S UP IN THE NORTHSTATE AND BEYOND
• Braveheart West Coast is an eighteen week training academy for men opening
in Etna, California, Monday, March 12. Its purpose is to equip men to become
more manly in the image of God and more passionate and effective on the mission
field, whether across the street or across the seas. Classes include Missions
and Protocol, Bible Applied, Facilitating Revivals, Worship, and Healing among
other things. (Jim will be teaching on Prayer, Healing, and Evangelism.) Practicum
includes hiking, boating, cave exploration and other outdoor activities in the
tradition advanced by John Eldredge. (Eldredge is advising Superintendent Dr.
Drake Travis.) The course is divided into six-week modules and graduates earn
an Associate of Arts degree; the $2500.00 cost per module includes room, board,
tuition, and all materials. Kickoff events are planned for Redding (January
27) at the Holiday Inn (7 PM) and in Yreka (January 28) at the Community Theatre
(9 AM). Go to Braveheartwestcoast.org for information or to purchase tickets,
or come into Holy Family Christian Bookstore or Bibles, Books and More (addresses
on previous page) for tickets – at $10.00 – for the kickoff event.
• Prayer Surge Now hosts weekly conference calls for nationwide prayer each
Saturday Morning from 4:30 to 9 AM Pacific Standard Time. To participate call
in at 712-432-0075 and enter code 6149782#. For more information contact Prayer
Surge Now at prayersurgenow@gmail.com. Dai Sup Han – an old friend and partner
with PrayNorthState hosts these calls and their value for the Body is without
measure. It is not – BTW – necessary to be on the line for the entire time to
participate – call in when you can and stay on the line for as long as you can.
God will be blessed and so will the callers.
• The Good News Rescue Mission in Redding held a memorial service Wednesday,
December 21, in their chapel to honor the memory of homeless people who died
in 2011. The service was well attended and the worship heartfelt. As readers
know, one prime reason we publish ministry items in the newsletter is to send
the message, “If they can do it we can do it.”
• The monthly pastors’ prayer meeting inside the state capitol has moved times
but not locations. Beginning Thursday, January 5, the meeting in Room 126 of
the capitol building will convene from 1:00 to 3:00 PM each first Thursday.
• A new prayer group for business persons launches Wednesday, January 10, in
Redding’s Market Street Promenade. The meetings are intended for believing proprietors
operating in or near the Promenade formerly known as the Downtown Mall. A similar
group is preparing to launch in the Four Corners shopping center in Redding’s
Enterprise area. A vision of PrayNorthState, these groups – and any others that
may form – are intended to localize intercession, worship, and blessing for
the various economic zones of the larger community. Each will offer its own
format and will meet weekly, monthly, or however founding members decide. We
hope there will be many such gatherings to form and follow.
• Christian Business Men’s Connection holds its first networking forum and
luncheon of 2012 on Monday, January 9, at Country Waffles Restaurant, located
at 2300 Athens Avenue in Redding. The event is from 11:30 to 1:00 and believing
business persons are asked to bring forty business cards and be prepared to
share a brief personal testimony. The group shares the Gospel with business
and professional men and women – women are welcome.
• Teen Challenge of Sacramento Valley has completed the purchase of the former
Assemblies of God church and campus in Happy Valley and has obtained use permits
for the first Teen Challenge residential facility north of Yuba City/Sacramento.
They are working to obtain building permits and the necessary funds to build
the center for housing up to sixty-four women and their children as the women
complete the most successful drug and alcohol rehab program in history. Teen
Challenge also announces the calling of the Rev. Bill Williams as their new
North State area director.
• The Luis Palau Crusade comes to Sacramento’s Cal Expo Arena Saturday and
Sunday, June 16 and 17. (PrayNorthState is a participating ministry and will
help organize prayer covering inside and outside the arena for the event.) More
than three hundred Northern California churches are co-sponsoring the crusade.
New churches are welcome to sign on by e-mailing updates@sacramentofestival.com
or contact us at praynorthstate@charter.net for appropriate referral. God is
moving for a Great Awakening to begin in California just as the Jesus People
Revolution kicked off in our state nearly half a century ago. Luke 1:17 is the
scripture for the season.
• A Season of Service begins at 5:30 PM on Sunday, January 15, at Capitol Christian
Center as the organizers of the Luis Palau Crusade pay tribute to Dr. Martin
Luther King on the occasion of his birthday. Participants will volunteer to
undertake projects in service to the greater Sacramento community in the five
months leading up to the June 16-17 Crusade. Luis Palau will be the principal
speaker at the event. Capitol Christian Center is located at 9470 Micron Avenue
in Sacramento.
• 2012 Olympic Games – Opportunities for Ministry – PrayNorthState colleague
Shelley McInnis is leading a team of intercessors, missionaries, and pastoral
care givers to the London Olympics in Summer 2012. Contact her at 916-706-7066
for information about joining or supporting her team. If you are interested
in leading a team contact info@callingcaliforniachristians.com. This is an unequaled
opportunity to pray for and share the gospel with thousands of people from around
the world who will take it home with them.
