DECEMBER 2011 ISSUE – VOL. 11 #11
The Rev. Jim and Diana Wilson, Coordinators

Dear People of the Northstate Vision:

A principal motif of the C. S. Lewis classic; The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe is that – under the reign of the evil witch – Narnia has perpetual winter and yet Christmas never comes. Winter is a blessing. It permits the creation to sleep, lie fallow, and prepare for new life stripped of the baggage of the old life. It requires nothing of us to establish winter; it always comes when it is time for it to come. Yet a perpetual winter would be a permanent curse for the simple reason that we would always be preparing for new life which will never come. Like winter, Christmas is a blessing; unlike winter Christmas is an outburst of God’s glory and a deposit on His promise to provide abundant and eternal life through the coming of His Son. Like winter it requires nothing of us to establish Christmas; unlike winter it requires a tremendous and sacrificial gifting for God to bring Christmas. Yet as Lewis illustrates so beautifully, it is Christmas that makes of winter a blessing. It is all that gives winter all things from meaning to blessing.

Repentance – the culture of repentance for which God calls in our time – is like winter. It is a privilege to turn away from our old life – one piece at a time – that my life might sleep, lie fallow, and prepare for the new life promised. Opportunities for repentance are everywhere and they just keep coming; we need do nothing but live to come into their path. Christ is like Christmas – how’s that for rocket science? We can do nothing to establish His presence in the world – except to confess our great need of Him. His coming is a tremendous and sacrificial giving that makes of repentance a blessing, that gives to it all things from meaning to blessing. Yet my choice for repentance is the ground on which He stands. Come to think of it, it’s a lot like winter and Christmas. Lewis wrote more than a children’s story.
CURRENTPrayNorthstateEVENTS

• A Gospel of Power is offered at Gridley First Presbyterian Church Friday, December 9 (7-9:30 PM) and Saturday, December 10 (9-5). Gospel sounds the call of God for a Fourth Great Awakening in the Body of Christ in the United States and especially in California – the cradle of contemporary revivals. It explores the connection between the dynamics released in healing prayer and the welcoming of revival. Sessions include training and hands-on practice for both physical and inner healing, how God releases authority through our submission, and how we can return to an original culture of covenant. Of course there will be prayer for healing offered. There is no charge, although love offerings will be received for PrayNorthState.

• Everything we know about revival and transformation are in the pages of The Holy Spirit and the End Times. All we have to offer on reconciliation – the pre-requisite for transformation – is found in Living as Ambassadors of Relationships. These books are recommended reading from the Miracle Channel (Living As…) and the International Healing Rooms (Holy Spirit) in addition to the major league endorsements they carry. They sell for $16.00, but we offer the set for $25.00. Prices include taxes; a $5.00 shipping charge is added to shipped orders. This is the perfect time to give Jim’s books as Christmas or other kinds of gifts – the earlier ordered the better. Diana’s jewelry can also be ordered – your order supports our ministry. E-mail praynorthstate@charter.net or call 530-941-3470.

• Jim’s books are also available in Redding at Bibles, Books and More, 2025 Hilltop; Holy Family Bookstore, Churn Creek at Hartnell; and Eagle’s Nest at Bethel Church. They are at Barnes and Noble and on line at Amazon.com.

• To book any of the events we do – Praying Home the Prodigals, Seeding the Future, Prophetic Acts With Impact, Building A House of Prayer, or A Gospel of Power, call 530-941-3470 or e-mail praynorthstate@charter.net.

WHAT’S UP IN THE NORTHSTATE AND BEYOND

• Jim is on Facebook; search Jim Wilson (the one from Redding – and see the photo of Jim and Diana to identify the page) for photos, video of the interviews on the Miracle Channel and such. It is all about PrayNorthState. Jim’s blog is accessible – see Networked Blogs or Notes on the page – and directly through WordPress.com. We hope everyone reads and “likes” our Facebook and blog.

• 11-11-11: A Line in the Sand was held in Pasadena’s Rosebowl on Friday, November 11. The all-day affair drew an international crowd that included delegations from Israel and South Korea. Approximately 20,000 attended as worship and prayer for a culture of repentance was offered. This event stands in the tradition established by The Call Sacramento and The Response in Houston. Lou Engle led The Call Detroit on the same day. These gatherings are part of the Body’s response to God’s call for a Great Awakening; yet the individual Christians coming into a season of progressive repentance are both the meaning and the driver for them. Jim participated and led a team of thirty-five prayer warriors in a pre-event Prayer Vanguard in the stadium for 11-11-11. The power of the prayer covering was evidenced in the absence of protesters outside the stadium – unlike other such events. God be praised!

• Braveheart West Coast is a training academy for men preparing to open in Etna, California, this coming March. Its purpose is to equip men to become more manly in the image of God and more passionate and effective on the mission field, whether across the street or across the seas. Classes include Missions and Protocol, Bible Applied, Facilitating Revivals, Worship, and Healing among other things. (Jim will be teaching the classes on Prayer, Healing, and Revival.) Practicum includes hiking, boating, cave exploration and other outdoor activities in the tradition advanced by John Eldredge in his writing and teaching. (Eldredge is advising Superintendent Dr. Drake Travis.) Kickoff events are planned for Redding (January 27) at the Holiday Inn (7 PM) and in Yreka (January 28) at the Community Theatre (9 AM). Go to Braveheartwestcoast.org for information.

• Forty Days for Life recently concluded its most successful season in the four years of its history. Sixteen hundred local campaigns were conducted in more than four hundred cities in all fifty states and thirteen additional nations. Half a million Christians from more than fourteen thousand churches took turns praying and blessing at abortion facilities in their communities and – unless engaged by others in conversation – that is all they did. More than five thousand babies were given a shot at life – and their parents blessed. In the meantime, more than sixty abortion workers quit their jobs and nineteen clinics closed in the face of this massive witness for life. Go to www.fortydaysforlife.com for more information or contact local (Sacramento) leader Wynette Sills at 916- 955-1577. A culture of life is making an American comeback – through ministries like 40 Days to Life – one blessing at a time.

• Prayer Surge Now hosts weekly conference calls for nationwide prayer each Saturday Morning from 4:30 to 9 AM Pacific Standard Time. To participate call in at 712-432-0075 and enter code 6149782#. For more information contact Prayer Surge Now at prayersurgenow@gmail.com. Dai Sup Han – an old friend and partner with PrayNorthState hosts these calls and their value for the Body is without measure. It is not – BTW – necessary to be on the line for the entire time to participate – call in when you can and stay on the line for as long as you can. God will be blessed and so will the callers.

• Quills of Faith is an interdenominational support and challenge group for northstate writers and aspiring writers meeting at Anderson-Cottonwood Neighborhood Church on Ronda Road in Anderson the second Monday Evening of each month from 7-9 PM. Accomplished writers Cindy Martinusen Coloma and Maxine Cambra are co-founders. All are welcome. Call Maxine at 530-365-1848 for details.

• Genesee Home is a rest and restoration ministry located in Taylorsville, California, near Chico. Hosts Charles and Bev Blom have guested on PrayNorthState Radio; their ministry is to pastors, lay leaders, and their families. Guests come from Sunday Evening through Friday Noon and all meals are included. Recreation – mountain valley style – prayer, worship, Bible study, personal ministry – and just plain rest opportunities are abundant. Participation in any program features is voluntary. Go to www.geneseehome.org or call 866-715-7378 for information. A stay at Genesee Home is the perfect gift from individual benefactors or home congregations for pastors.

• 2012 Olympic Games – Opportunities for Ministry – PrayNorthState colleague Shelley McInnis is leading a team of intercessors, missionaries, and pastoral care givers to the London Olympics in Summer 2012. Contact her at 916-706-7066 for information about joining or supporting her team. If you are interested in leading a team contact info@callingcaliforniachristians.com. This is an unequaled opportunity to pray for and share the gospel with thousands of people from around the world who will take it home with them.

• Sacramento House of Prayer meets Saturdays from 6:30 to 8:30 PM. Contact Pastors Chris and Maria Martinez at 916-519-8426 for information.

• End of the Year Coming – As the year 2011 comes to a close there is no better time to make a gift to the ministry of PrayNorthState – just in time for an end-of-the-year tax deduction and just in time for our season of greatest need. As Jim shared in our annual report, we offer our services free of charge all over California and the nation; only your gifts and God’s grace keep us going. If you are making a pledge please e-mail us at praynorthstate@charter.net. If you are making a one-time gift send your check to PrayNorthState, P. O. Box 493743, Redding, CA 96049-3743. You can always call us at 530-941-3470.
