SEPTEMBER 2010 ISSUE – VOL. 10 #8
The Rev. Jim and Diana Wilson, Coordinators
Dear People of the Northstate Vision:
I can imagine no clearer demonstration of the colliding seasons
in which we live than the events of August 19. A team of some thirty
young people from various states came together in our state capitol
(yes, we arranged it) to prep in prayer for The Call – held
this Labor Day Weekend on the Capitol Mall. There was such Godly
favor over the gathering that – although we requested a hearing
room for two hours – we were given the premier room atop the
building and we were given it for the whole day. An unsolicited
tour of the capitol was offered and accepted, and when we asked
if the time could be extended so the young people could stop and
pray as they were led, permission was immediately given –
even though other groups have been expelled from the building for
stopping to pray in the public areas. Powerful words of blessing,
accompanying scriptures and prophecies were released. We give God
praise and thanks for the officials who were so gracious to us.
At the same time, in the Assembly, SB 906 was being adopted and
sent to the governor’s desk for his signature. (At this writing
he is deciding.) This bill guts Proposition 8 by applying it only
to civil marriages – those performed in a courthouse –
while permitting gay marriages in churches. It is hard to imagine
a more brazen assault on the democratic process in which men call
evil good and good evil. What should men and women of faith do?
We do what Jesus called us to do before He rose. We bless those
we think enemies; forgive as we are forgiven; and actively invite
all whom we encounter into His Kingdom. We bear witness and rejoice
as His tsunami of miracles rolls down the valleys and we lift up
our heads when the tsunami of darkness roars to meet it. We know
who wins and we follow Him.

WHAT’S UP IN THE NORTHSTATE AND BEYOND
• The Harvest Cry 2010 prayer project is ongoing and all
that God is asking of us is daily prayer for the harvest promised
in Luke 10:1-9 – and activity based on that promise. A calling
spearheaded by Sierra Ministries International, Harvest Cry 2010
has become a partnership of more than seventy ministries across
the nation – and PrayNorthState is proud to be included in
the core team of those ministries. Let three points be centered
in your prayer: Repentance – for the sins of the nation only
after we have repented for the many times we Christians have dropped
the ball; Bearing Witness to the greatness of the Lord in our own
lives in season and out as Jesus commands in Luke 24; Discipling
One Another as Jesus specifies in Matthew 28’s Great Commission.
• Genesis Generation Radio is on the air each Sunday Evening
from 6-8 PM on Radio KCNR Redding, AM 1460, and KBLF Red Bluff,
AM 1490, as well as live-streamed on KCNR1460.com. The program features
rotating co-hosts crossing the generational lines to engage each
other, and live calls from listeners. This is an opportunity to
help bridge generation gaps and be ambassadors of reconciliation.
We hope you will listen to this PrayNorthState initiative –
on the air or on the internet.
• Regional Pastors’ Prayer Meeting for Governmental
Leaders and Issues holds an inaugural meeting in the state capitol
on Friday, September 3 from Noon to 1 PM. These meetings will occur
on the first Friday of each month and pastors are invited to attend.
Call 916-319-2003 for information. The gatherings join a small host
of ministries meeting to pray for the state inside and outside the
building on a monthly basis, including our own PrayNorthState monthly
visits. Regional Pastors Prayer is hosted by Assemblyman Dan Logue
and facilitated by Pastor David Lucas of Gloryland Revival Center.
• The Fifth District State Court of Appeal hears oral arguments
beginning September 7 in a case involving the Anglican Diocese of
San Joaquin and the Episcopal Church. The diocese is Jim’s
covering jurisdiction and the Episcopal Church is attempting to
seize its property. The case has been ongoing and we ask prayer
that God’s justice will prevail and peace and blessing be
received by all parties to the dispute. The situation is part of
the fall-out accompanying the break-up of the Episcopal Church in
the wake of her support of practicing homosexuals elevated to leadership
positions and the worship of multiple gods in some of her churches.
This is a sad time for all; please pray.
• While we’re at it on legal matters, The Pacific Justice
Institute, the Alliance Defense Fund, and the Defend Prop 8 legal
team are appealing the federal court ruling declaring Proposition
8 unconstitutional. PJI is also bringing a legal action to force
Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and Attorney General Jerry Brown
to join in filing the appeal. The state constitution and the state
code specifically require these officials to defend state laws regardless
of their agreement with them and the appeals court has hinted it
might not hear an appeal from which they are absented. Yet the Governor
and the Attorney General, despite the law, have refused to file
an appeal so far.
• Perspectives on the World Christian Movement is a fifteen
week university level course in the history and shape of the Christian
Faith and the centrality of the Great Commission. The Spring course
will begin in the second week of January. Watch these pages for
details on locations in Redding, Chico, and Yuba City. There is
an approximately $250 tuition for the course, which is taught by
a different instructor each week – Jim teaches the cross-cultural
piece in Week 11 – and taps experts from many streams of the
Church in the written materials.
• Christians across the nation will gather at their county
courthouses at High Noon on Friday, September 10, to pray for and
bless God for our nation in anticipation of the 9th anniversary
of 911. This is strictly a prayer and worship event. In our NorCal
region contact Dai Sup Han at 530-570-0085 for info.
• Sierra Ministries International is a frequent partner with
PrayNorthState in various ministry projects. The Rev. Dan Prout
– leader of SMI – offers his seminar on “The Authority
to Heal” at Sutter Community Church on Friday and Saturday,
September 10-11. Contact the church at 530-755-0408 for information
on attending this very dynamic and practical opportunity for Kingdom
living. There is a $35.00 fee for adults; $20.00 for youth.
• Teen Challenge International holds their annual fundraising
banquet at the Shasta District Fairgrounds on Thursday, September
16, at 7 PM. Teen Challenge is the most successful drug abuse recovery
program in history, but they need support. The same event will be
held in Roseville on September 23, and in Yuba City on September
30. Call 1-800-437-1919 for information or reservations.
• 40 Days for Life kicks off the Fall event at 8 PM at the
Vigil site – 1333 58th Street in Sacramento. This recurrent
event features nothing but prayer and blessing at abortion clinics
around the nation for forty days at a time. Thousands of lives have
been saved and a number of abortion clinics have closed following
these onslaughts of the love of God. Call Wynette Sills at 916-955-1577
for information or to volunteer. Sacramento is one of two hundred
thirty-eight cities worldwide to host 40 Days for Life simultaneously.
• Aglow International holds their annual national conference
from October 1-3 at the San Jose McEnery Convention Center. The
event is keynoted by Ray Hughes, Jane Hansen, and Mary Forsythe.
Call 530-272-8766 for information. Admission is free for pastors
and their spouses, courtesy of Aglow.

• A Gospel of Power is a new PrayNorthState weekend seminar.
The weekend introduces participants to the Elijah Season in which

kinds – that characterizes it. Gospel will be offered at St.
Augustine’s Anglican Church in Chico Friday and Saturday,

season – for $25.00. Prices include taxes; a $5.00 shipping
charge is added to shipped orders.

of any current or upcoming events should go to the PrayNorthstate
web site at www.praynorthstate.org or call us at 530-941-3470.
