MAY 2010 ISSUE – VOL. 10 #5
The Rev. Jim and Diana Wilson, Coordinators
Dear People of the Northstate Vision:
May 23 brings the day of commemoration of the first Christian Pentecost,
the birthday of the Body of Christ, when disciples became apostles
through the outpouring of the Holy Spirit and three thousand new
citizens of the Kingdom joined that first epic party in Jerusalem.
We celebrate on the 23rd, but God forbid we do nothing more than
remember past glories. What gifts does God bring on Pentecost 2010?
The first – and this really is a gift – is the federal
court decision declaring the National Day of Prayer statute unconstitutional.
Nothing in the decision forbids observing the day as Christians
all over the country will do; the decision is stayed until appeals
run out, and it is absurd on its face because the statute provides
neither funding nor recognition of one faith over another. It simply
encourages Americans to pray as they might be led. But the good
news is that an event often greeted with complacency and non-participation
is on the mind and heart of many millions right now. In Redding
and Shasta County we conduct four different events during the week
of the National Day – see the next page for details –
as we praise God and acknowledge Him in the public square. All of
these events are held at the Redding City Hall, at 777 Cypress Avenue.
Join us and join Him.
The second – May 14 is the birthday of Israel. Israel needs
the support of Americans now more than ever – and we need
to align ourselves with God’s firstborn just as much –
as our government prepares to throw Israel under the bus. Hating
Israel is fashionable today, and a quick look at some of the responders
to Jim’s blog will confirm that hatred is close aboard. Let’s
pray, worship, and witness more than ever in such a time as this.
It’s harvest time.
CURRENTPrayNorthstateEVENTS
• National Day of Prayer is celebrated throughout Shasta
County the first week of May. Jim chairs the local steering committee,
with our local prayer of “Heal our land.” The national
motto is, “For such a time as this.” Events include
the annual Bible Reading Marathon, beginning Monday, May 3, and
continuing round the clock through Thursday at Noon. Wednesday,
May 5, (from 7-9 PM) features a prayer and praise rally with worship
bands, prayer tents, corporate prayers for reconciliation in our
land, and Assemblyman Jim Nielsen. On Thursday, May 6, our traditional
observance of the day is marked from Noon to 1 PM by dignitaries
from various spheres of influence praying for our city, region,
state and nation. Teams will prayer walk the city from 2-4:30 PM.
• Jim brings Recovering Our Roots to the lay leaders of the
Anglican Diocese of San Joaquin on Saturday, May 29. The one day

WHAT’S UP IN THE NORTHSTATE AND BEYOND
• Jim has been blogging for the Redding Record-Searchlight
for the past several months and the monthly reports on numbers of
viewers place him right in the middle of the pack of thirty-two
contributors. But he is number four in terms of the average length
of stay for a viewer. This means people are really taking the time
to consider what he has to say. Please pray for favor as we address
the world outside of the Church in this forum – and check
us out under Padre J at Redding.com – make us one of the most
looked as well as longest looked at.
• National Day of Prayer – with the national theme
for 2010 being For Such a Time as This – is being observed
all over the nation in this week and on the day itself. Hollywood
Prayer Network hosts a breakfast with leaders from the Church and
from the entertainment industry. A Bible Reading Marathon that pre-dates
ours by more than a decade is now underway from the steps of the
nation’s capitol in Washington, DC. And in Merced, California,
the gathered churches worship God on the steps of their local courthouse
with multiple praise bands in attendance. Let us acknowledge our
God in all of our ways, that He might straighten our steps –
in ways large and small – as we are able.
• Calling All Tribes to Prayer is a very special National
Day of Prayer observance planned for the steps of the California
state capitol for May 6 from 6-8 PM. This Native American gathering
will feature worshippers in their tribal regalia, but all are welcome
– with or without regalia. The event is a function of California
National Day of Prayer, Pastor Ted Rose coordinating.
• PrayNorthState Radio now broadcasts on Butte Broadcasting’s
Radio KKXX, heard in the Chico region on AM 940 and FM 104.5. We
need businesses to sponsor the adventure – but we praise God
for beginning this ministry pre-funded. Listen for us in the Chico
region on Saturdays from 8-9 AM.
• Holland Davis has composed some landmark Christian music
such as Let It Rise and Worthy Is The Lamb. He performs and leads
worship in concert – alongside the group, Doulos, and Angela
Archer, on Thursday, May 13, at Parkside Church of the Nazarene
in Auburn, CA. Admission is free, although a love offering will
be taken. The concert begins at 7 PM. Call Paul DeBaufer at 530-613-3647
for more information.
• 40 Days for Life is a recurring ministry of on-site prayer
for the lives of the unborn and their parents that has been in operation
several times each year since 2007. Their most recent vigil concludes
on April 3 – the day before Easter – and they report
some 607 lives already saved in this season alone. They report more
than 2500 saved lives since 2007 alongside five shutdowns of abortion
clinics (two this Spring) and many decisions for Jesus inside those
clinics – from parents to staffers. This is achieved through
prayer and ministry alone! The next forty day vigil is scheduled
from September 22 through October 31 and will occur in 167 cities
around the country – more than doubling the number of cities
served in 2008. For information check out www.40daysforlife.com.
• Stand and Be Counted is the response to Armed Forces Day
in Vacaville on Sunday, May 15. By Faith Productions hosts this
annual event. Go to byfaithproductions.net for more information.
There is nothing in the sacred or secular realms that cannot be
blessed and transformed by God through the service of His people
of faith.
• God, Gold, and Glory is the name of a book and a conference
featuring Pastors Henry and Grace Falany and held at Bethel Church
of Grass Valley on May 21 and 22 – the Friday and Saturday
before Pentecost. The speakers are dedicated to revival in California
and will speak of their vision of the manifest destiny of the state.
Admission is free to this event; a love offering will be received.
The church is located at 13010 Highway 49 in Grass Valley.
• The Global Day of Prayer is held Sunday, May 23, the traditional
Feast of Pentecost, also known as the birthday of the Church. Go
to www.globaldayofprayer.com to check for activities in your community.
• Heart 4 Nations hosts a Global Arts and Food Festival in
Redding’s Library Park on Saturday, May 29, from 11 AM to
11 PM. Library Park is in the downtown district of Redding behind
the Hotel Lorenz. The event is intended to support the children
of Haiti and Africa and features more than forty booths. Proceeds
will be given to Iris Ministries (Mozambique and Sudan); Heroes
of the Nation (Kenya); and Transformational Development Agency (Haiti
and Rwanda). There will be food, arts displays, and interactive
children’s activities. Go to www.heartforthenations.com for
more info.
• The School of Prayer and Intercession will be a weekly
event at Etna’s JH Ranch – a Christian guest ranch dedicated
to partnering with Israel and praying in transforming revival along
the Interstate 5 Corridor. Each school covers strategic and pragmatic
intercession on topics ranging from Israel to Breaking Addictions
to Starting a Prayer Group in Your Home. Inquiries may be directed
to Ray or JoAnn Shelton at rshelton@jhranch.com or to Twila Frederick
at 205-879-5601 to register.
• City on the Hill Youth Leadership Conference is an annual
event sponsored and led by the Capitol Resource Institute. COTH
is a weeklong summer camp in which young people receive Christ-centered
coaching and hands-on experience in the legislative process and
through mock sessions in which they role-play as legislators at
varying levels. They hear from experts in government, education,
policy-making, and media. The 2010 event is held at William Jessup
University – a Christian school – in Rocklin, CA from
July 20-25. Contact CRI at kengland@capitolresourceinstitute.org.
UPCOMING PrayNorthState EVENTS
• Seeding the Future comes to Word of His Grace Church in
Bothell, Washington, the weekend of June 11-12. This seminar is
PrayNorthState’s answer to the current economy. It exhorts
and facilitates a combination of prayer and bold investment in the
Kingdom – as God commands in Matthew 6:33 – and teaches
participants how to do both. Call the church at 425-424-3801 –
or call us.
• Praying Home the Prodigals comes to Grace Anglican Church
in Oceanside the weekend of August 20-22, to Paradise Nazarene Church
the weekend of September 10-12, and to Word-A-Live Church in Penn
Valley the weekend of October 8-10. Praying Home is the seminar
designed to enable participants to fully engage the amazing Elijah
season the Lord has launched in our midst. Topics covered include
the dynamics of the season itself, the radical power of engagement
with God and with one another, and the breaking off of obstacles
to the ambassadorship for which each of us is born – and for
such a time as this. Call us at 530-941-3470 for information.
• Prophetic Acts With Impact comes to St. James’ Anglican
Cathedral in Fresno the weekend of September 24-26. This seminar
equips participants to prepare their city for Holy Spirit Transformation
through such pragmatic prophetic acts as Bible reading marathons,
targeted prayer projects, Prayer Vanguard, and the placing of prayer
tents throughout the city. While he is in the region Jim will offer
Looking God in the Face: Seeking His Vision to area clergy only;
when God says He means to plant His vision in our hearts He means
it quite literally. Call us at 530-941-3470 for information on either
of these events.
• Everything we know about revival and transformation are
in the pages of The Holy Spirit and the End Times. All we have to
offer on reconciliation – the pre-requisite for transformation
– is found in Living as Ambassadors of Relationships. The
books sell for $16.00, but we offer the set for $25.00 plus $5.00
shipping. Jim has guested on nationally syndicated radio programs
The Truth Uncovered, The Frank Pastore Show, and Bytes.
Anyone desiring to participate or to gain a fuller picture of any
current or upcoming events should go to the PrayNorthstate web site
