| Dear People of the Northstate Vision:
Most of you will know that Diana and I believe our state, our nation,
and our culture are at a tipping point of apocalyptic proportions.
Events like the judicial overturn of Proposition 8 – the constitutional
amendment to protect marriage and family in our state – are
symptoms, not causes, of this condition. Events like the breaking
of drought and the reversal of another court decision that now opens
the water pumps to the central valley are evidence of God’s
power to heal and set free when His people pray with faithfulness
and focus.
In this amazing Elijah season God is manifesting His power through
answered prayer to an unprecedented degree. The flip side is that
He is calling His people to an unprecedented expression of faithfulness.
That means we fight His battles with His weapons and no others.
That means we bless those we think enemies, forgive as we have been
forgiven, and celebrate the Lord’s Presence in the Holy Communion
in whatever way we are accustomed to doing that.
There are numerous calls to radical prayer for radical and transformative
revival going around the state and nation in this season. While
it is always a good day to pray – and especially to pray for
establishing God’s Kingdom on earth as it is in Heaven –
we are called upon to test and evaluate prophetic words. Frankly,
if a word promises a quick end to our national troubles in exchange
for a season of prayer it is of doubtful authenticity; we are in
the last act of the great salvation drama and things are going to
be rugged from now until the Lord’s return. Even more frankly,
if a word calls us to lead the nation to repentance without first
repenting our own sin as the Body of Christ it cannot be of the
Lord. Scripture is clear that the community of faith will be judged
before the rest of the society. So pray hard for God’s intervention
in our individual and corporate lives, but do it from the standpoint
of turning away from what we have built to what He creates.
Please join us in giving thanks while we continue to pray for:
• Harvest Call 2010 – we ask you to pray each day through
September 22 (for the first stage) for the harvest God has promised;
remembering the three prayer points of repentance as and for the
Church, evangelism for the prodigals and discipleship for the sheep
who come in.
• The Call Sacramento – September 3 from 6-11 PM and
September 4 from 9-9; this event is a solemn assembly for the whole
Body of Christ to stand in repentance for our failures as a Church
and as a nation. Go to thecall.com if you want to attend (Diana
and I will be there) but please give thanks to God for this powerful
vision and pray for the protection and favor of God on all of the
participants – but especially on Lou Engle and his team, who
have received threats and heavy opposition to their intent to pray.
• Genesis Generation Radio – making its debut on Sunday,
September 5, at 6PM on Radio KCNR Redding, AM 1460, and KBLF Red
Bluff, AM 1490 – please pray for favor and a large audience
response, for facility in getting the word out, and for peace for
our teams of co-hosts, most of whom have never been on the radio
before. Pray also for more sponsor support and for the elimination
of the obstacles – which have been considerable. Pray also
that people who listen on the first night make listening a habit.
• Even as we pray for Harvest Cry 2010, please continue to
be in prayer for the amazing season God released in 2008 –
this Elijah season; one pastor friend whose church only seats 150
has baptized 17 new believers in the past two Sundays alone –
and become bolder and bolder as God calls you to share the Good
News in places and with people you think improbable.
• The Salvation Army’s Redding chapter as they hold
their annual golf tournament and barbecue plus auction; this is
the biggest fundraiser of the year for a ministry that is everywhere
in our community – let the recession bite the dust on August
14 as they seek God and spit in the enemy’s eye.
• It is not too soon to be praying daily for rain throughout
the state; let us continue to thank God for breaking the drought
and to seek Him for His vision of a well watered state.
• We prophesied (in 2005) a corridor in which representatives
of the regions of California would more and more come together –
that prophesy is more and more coming true as Southern California
leaders prepare for an October pilgrimage into our region and Diana
and I head south this month; please pray and bless.
• Please pray for the legal teams appealing the ruling that
struck down Proposition 8 – but please do this from the standpoint
of a broken heart for the gay and straight people who are harmed
by this ruling, and as humble seekers of the Lord our God that He
would bless all concerned; it was such an attitude that caused adoption
of Prop 8 in ’08 and it will bring justice now.
• Sponsors – we need sponsors willing to risk for the
Kingdom and to keep PrayNorthState Radio on the air as the recession
continues to take its toll on our supporters; we need more sponsors
for Genesis Generation as well, and so we ask your daily prayer.
• As you know, PrayNorthState TV production has been suspended
by order of the FCC because we lack the equipment for closed captioning;
we are seeking (and asking your prayers for) some media or other
company that has recently upgraded their equipment and would donate
their used equipment to PrayNorthState; please be in prayer that
we will connect with the right people.
As always – thanks more than I can say for your faithfulness.
You are God’s own.
In Christ, Jim and Diana
