JULY-AUGUST 2010 ISSUE – VOL. 10 #7
The Rev. Jim and Diana Wilson, Coordinators
Dear People of the Northstate Vision:
The Kingdom of God on earth is all about this: Prayer and proclamation.
This ministry is likewise all about these two things; indeed, all
of us in the Body of Christ need to be about this prayer and proclamation
– as the Children of Israel were all about the Worshipping
at the burning bush and Walking the exodus from Egypt. In practical
terms that means that modern day Christians need to be praying for
(and praising God for) all things needful – however trivial
and however beyond our grasp they may seem to be. And we need to
be proclaiming God’s goodness and glory in these things from
the moment His answer appears on the horizon as a cloud the size
of a man’s fist – to cite the lesson from Elijah and
First Kings 18.
For the past two years we have called for concerted and sustained
prayer for rain in the face of the three year drought in California,
and you prayed. In January we proclaimed the end of the drought
when the first great wave of rains was still soaking our state and
we had months to wait for the fullness – if it were going
to come at all. Some agreed with the proclamation and some called
us just plain loony-tunes crazy. Proclamation worthy only if it
carries risk of being wrong; prayer is worthy only if it carries
desperation.
More recently we called for sustained prayer over the man-made
drought in California’s Central Valley – a drought endable
only if a federal judge reverses his decision. You prayed, and Judge
Wanger has issued a preliminary ruling reversing his order to shut
down the water pumps in the Sacramento River Delta. All things are
possible with God through prayer – and now is the time for
proclamation and praise. Time also to issue another call for prayer
– this time God wants us praying for harvest. See inside.
CURRENTPrayNorthstateEVENTS
• PrayNorthState launches a new radio ministry aimed at fostering
intergenerational understanding and respect September 5 –

the two-hour live call-in program will air on Sunday Evenings from

teams will talk about whatever is of interest that week while modeling
intergenerational honor and respect to each other. They will take
calls from young people and their families.

WHAT’S UP IN THE NORTHSTATE AND BEYOND
• The Harvest 2010 Prayer Call is underway. More than 70
ministries are partnering on this project in which Christians all
over the nation are urged to pray the Lord of the Harvest (Luke
10:2) to send workers into His fields, which are white for harvest.
The Call – which was given as a word to the Rev. Dan Prout
of Sierra Ministries International – asks of participants
daily prayer for the harvest – nothing more. We are proud
to serve on the initiating team and more info is available at http://prayercallforharvest2010.blogspot.com/.
Contact us at praynorthstate@charter.net if as a ministry leader
you want to partner in this project. Let all who read this pray
daily for its fulfillment.
• PrayNorthState TV – which has been on the air continuously
in our region for the past six years – has been forced to
suspend production by the FCC. During an audit of the Fox station
that broadcasts us it was determined that we do not include closed
captioning on our broadcasts. The equipment to bring us into compliance
with federal regulations costs many thousands of dollars. Until
we can secure the loan or donation of some used equipment of this
type Fox is forbidden to broadcast our programming or risk heavy
fines. We ask all of our supporters to pray over this situation
and – if any know where we might obtain this equipment at
no cost – please call us at 530-941-3470. And in case any
are wondering – we are not being discriminated against; we
have simply run afoul of some regulations about which we were ignorant
and no one is willing to make an exception for us.
• PrayNorthState Radio now broadcasts on Butte Broadcasting’s
Radio KKXX, heard in the Chico region on AM 940 and FM 104.5. We
need businesses to sponsor the adventure – but we praise God
for beginning this ministry pre-funded. Listen for us in the Chico
region on Saturdays from 8-9 AM.
• City on the Hill Youth Leadership Conference is an annual
event sponsored and led by the Capitol Resource Institute. COTH
is a weeklong summer camp, led by Christians experienced in political
arenas, in which young people become mock legislators and debate
current legislation. They learn from and hang out with experts in
government, education, policy-making, and media. The 2010 event
is held at William Jessup University – a Christian school
– in Rocklin, CA from July 20-25. Contact CRI at kengland@capitolresourceinstitute.org.
• The 50th Anniversary of the launch of the Charismatic Renewal
in the Pacific Northwest, under the pastoral guidance of The Rev.
Dennis Bennett, will be celebrated in a commemorative event scheduled
for July 31 and intended as a launch pad for renewal. Fr. Bennett
went home to the Lord in 1990, but his legacy is alive and well.
If you might be able to attend please rsvp to Overlake Christian
Church, 9900 Willows Rd, Redmond, WA 98052-2531 or go to the web
site occ.org for information or to register.
• The first Bible Reading Marathon in New England was completed
on Sunday Morning, June 27. Gale force winds created states of civil
emergency in the towns surrounding Darien, CT, on the second day
of the reading, but the storm bypassed Darien. Many townsfolk approached
the readers to say they knew the city was spared damage because
the Word of God was being spoken in public there. (The readers based
on the lawn of the Town Hall.) The peace that spread was palpable
to believers and pre-believers, and the print and broadcast media
gave lavish and favorable coverage to an event that would appear
strange in the highly secularized culture of the region. Several
other regional marathons are planned. PrayNorthState introduced
these marathons to the region in February.
• Keith Green was one of the great pioneers of contemporary
Christian music, as well one of the premier figures associated with
the Jesus People movement of the late sixties, seventies, and eighties.
Prayer Surge Now and Californians 4 Jesus plan a night of remembrance
and re-launch in this season of harvest and preparation for harvest.
The evening is planned for July 28 – the day on which Keith
Green went to heaven, and a day of co-incidence in terms of his
age at the time of death and the numbers of years passed since his
death – 28. Organizer Dai Sup Han can be reached at 530-570-0085
by phone and at www.lastdaysministries.org on the web. Dai Sup seeks
believers who can provide a facility – whether their church
or another site – to host a live webcast featuring Green’s
widow, Melody Green alongside YWAM’s President John Dawson
– along with others – as they reflect on Green’s
life and significance for the Kingdom – and what God seems
to be showing the Body at this time.
• In our NorthState region Neighborhood Church of Chico will
host the Keith Green commemorative event, titled “No Compromise”,
at 6:30 PM on Wednesday, July 28. Contact Dai Sup (see above) or
call the church at 530-343-6006 for information or to participate.
Contact Dai Sup Han directly to inquire about providing or hosting
another local site for the event.
• Walid Shoebat, former Islamic Terrorist and author of Why
I Left Jihad, is now a Christian and a lover of the Jews and Israel.
Shoebat will speak on Sunday, July 18, at Sunset Community Church,
2200 Arroyo Road, in Livermore. Call 925-447-6282 for information
on this man who risks his life for Jesus each time he appears in
public.
• Jesus Culture returns to Redding Wednesday through Friday,
July 28-30. The conference that trains and releases young people
to take transformative revival to the streets of their communities
and has spread to nearly a dozen nations since 1999 will be held
again at Redding Convention Center. Featured speakers include founder
Banning Liebscher, Sean Smith and Cindy Jacobs. The Jesus Culture
Band will lead worship. Go to www.ibethel.org.
• THECALLSACRAMENTO comes to Sacramento with founder Lou
Engle for the first time Labor Day Weekend, September 3-5. Go to
www.thecall.com.

in Oceanside the weekend of August 20-22, to Paradise Nazarene Church

to the ambassadorship for which each of us is born – and for
such a time as this.
