| JANUARY 2009 ISSUE – VOL. 9 #1
The Rev. Jim and Diana Wilson, Coordinators
Dear People of the Northstate Vision:
More than two billion professing Christians have just celebrated
the birth of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Fewer recognize the
equally important event of His revelation to the world that we celebrate
each January – the ancient Greek name for it is Epiphany.
It is marked by commemoration of the visit of the Wise Men, the
Baptism of Jesus, and His first miracle in the conversion of water
to wine at the Wedding in Cana of Galilee.
But the revelation of Jesus is nothing if not practical –
and that revelation continues today. Record unemployment in Shasta
County – and California – is devastating evidence of
a devastating season. Yet the recently concluded “Celebrating
the NorthState Family” auction was as prophetic as we declared
it to be. More than seventy businesses and ministries supported
the event and God said that all would be blessed. We already have
reports of fruit in terms of increased client loads, media attention,
and the doubling of registration for an event at the Holiday Inn
where our event was lavishly hosted. Can the realities of recession
and renaissance exist side by side?
Reality is that they are – and God has something to say about
this. We are in a rough season – God’s Word has long
foretold it and He always speaks truth. Yet He has promised a time
of blossoming – an Elijah generation for the turning of the
fathers’ hearts to their children and the preparation of a
people for righteousness – and again He speaks truth. The
way out of hard times is always bold investment in the Kingdom –
and the Body is being measured. Our opportunity – and our
obligation – is to worship as though it were Easter, choose
Whom we serve boldly and publicly, and walk in the graceful authority
of His Name, doing all things that He alone can empower.

hills overlooking Redding; seating is limited to thirty participants
and there are a few seats still open. Jim teaches on A Prophetic
Community in the Marketplace; If It’s Prophetic It’s
Got To Be Pragmatic; and Prophecies Over the City and How To Tend
Them. There is no charge – offerings will be received to cover

– or e-mail praynorthstate@charter.net. The retreat is Saturday,
January 10, from 9:30 to 5.
• Praying Home the Prodigals will be offered at Oasis Christian
Ministries in Sacramento on Saturday, January 16 and Sunday, January

WHAT’S UP IN THE NORTHSTATE
• The Azusa House of Prayer completed an Advent weekend in
which members were called to fast from entertainment and seek God’s
face for the evangelization of the Los Angeles Basin. More than
five youth groups and several churches participated – hundreds
of Christians gathered by Genesis Generation leaders in an effort
to influence millions of Angelenos for Christ. Organizer Theresa
Babbitt believes this move is triggering focused prayer in multiple
venues.
• The Northern Siskiyou County Ministerial Association has
once again organized a food and gift distribution for Christmas
– filling in the gaps left by government and other organized
ministries of this type. They hosted a Christmas dinner on the afternoon
of Christmas Day with help and facilities furnished by the local
Grange. Some two hundred baskets were distributed in a city of only
about eight thousand. Call Lily at 530-842-1105 for info on how
to do your own for next year.
• Also in Siskiyou County a New Year’s Eve bash for
teens is planned by Christians of many churches at the Yreka YMCA.
The event is all volunteer staffed and supplied with one couple
running the front desk and another donated twelve pounds of nacho
chips – one third of the total required – while yet
another gave a raffle prize and one more is organizing three-on-three
basketball. Area businesses are offering sound equipment, plates
and cups and so forth; still another is donating food and many are
giving money for the purchase of food. This is the third year for
this event – it requires vision and elbow grease.
• Local Redding author Pastor Ray Mossholder is publishing
two books in January. The first, titled Freedom, is the story of
revivalist Georgian Banov’s life from rock star in Communist
Bulgaria as a teenager to escapee to the West to new life in Christ
Jesus and a worldwide ministry. The second is a novel called Being
Boober Goober; it details the coming of age of an awkward teen who
is called to new and abundant life in a culture of revival and transformation.
The author can be contacted at 530-921-1360.
• The Annual West Coach March for Life will be on Saturday,
January 24, in San Francisco. Two busloads of young people will
depart Sacramento for the march at 8 AM from the parking lot of
St. Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Church and return at 6:30 PM. There
is a charge of $20.00 to ride the bus. In addition, the 35th anniversary
of the Supreme Court’s Roe v. Wade decision will be observed
with a special service of Holy Communion at the St. Rose church.
Call Kelly at 916- 783-5219 or David at 916-784-0765 for info.
• The Perspectives Course on the worldwide Christian movement
will again be taught in several locations this Spring. The fifteen
week course covers what God is doing in mission around the world
– and how to be in mission in our own communities or on foreign
mission fields. The weekly course begins on Sunday, January 25,
at the Covenant Community Church in Davis and on Monday, January
26 at Matthew’s Café Community Church in Chico. Each
unit is taught by experts in many fields; Jim will teach cross-cultural
ministry at both locations. Go to www.perspectives.org or call Frank
Agee at 530-877-1017.
• The Annual Pastors’ Prayer Summit will be offered
at Springs of Living Water Conference Center, Richardson Springs,
from Monday, January 26 through Wednesday, January 28. The $75.00
registration fee covers meals and two nights lodging. The program
is nothing but prayer and worship in the fellowship of regional
leaders in the Body of Christ. Contact Neighborhood Church of Chico
at 530-343-6006 for information.
• Jesus Culture returns to Redding on February 6-7 and is
this year coupled with the Campus Awake Leaders’ Training
on February 8-9. These events are held concurrently at Redding’s
Convention Center and at Redding’s Bethel Church campus. Keynote
Speaker will be founder-of-the-Call Lou Engel. Lou is joined by
Jesus Culture founder Banning Liebscher; worship is led by Kim Walker
and Chris Quilala. Go to encounterjesus.org or call 530-246-6000.
• Redding Transformation teams with River City Church of
Redding and a host of local leaders to offer LYNK Training on Thursday
Nights from February 5 through March 19, from 7-9 PM. The course
will offer training in transformational principles from many perspectives
including Youth for Christ’s Rick Caldwell, the Vineyard’s
Pastor Mike Kerns, and Bethel Church’s Pastor Bill Johnson.
There is a charge for registration; call 530-222-9371 or go to www.weR1net.net
for info or to register.
• Prayer and worship are being offered regularly in multiple
locations of Redding’s downtown district. Get Real Worship
and PrayNorthState are partnering in this ministry based on prophetic
statements about God’s plans for the Downtown. Get Real Worship
brings worship in song to Library Park and to the downtown mall
plaza each week. PrayNorthState is bringing prayer walking and sacramental
worship to these locations and we are now joined by Get Real. This
is all to fulfill the prophecies over the mall that it would become
a center of service and ministry – to date approximately ninety
per cent of the open concerns in the mall are service oriented –
up from about sixty per cent when the prophecies were first voiced
in 2004. In addition, City Church holds regular Sunday services
in the Cascade Theatre and Faith Community Church maintains offices
in the downtown mall.
• Jim’s new book, The Holy Spirit and the End Times,
is all about practical prophecy and field-tested strategies for
welcoming God into your community in ways that demonstrate and celebrate
His transforming power. Check it out on our web site – www.praynorthstate.org
– e-mail us at praynorthstate@charter.net or just give us
a call at 530-941-3470. It’s available at most bookstores
as well.
UPCOMING PrayNorthState EVENTS
• Praying Home the Prodigals is offered at Word of His Grace
Church in Bothell, Washington, over the weekend of February 6-7.
This weekend event will also be offered at St. Augustine’s
Anglican Church in Chico on the weekend of March 6 and 7, and at
St. Michael’s Episcopal Church in Carlsbad (CA) over the weekend
of March 13 and 14. Praying Home the Prodigals is practical and
hands-on teaching about sowing into the season of God’s grace
underway at this moment. It is a season of unprecedented proliferation
of miracles – but with a specific purpose summed up in Luke
1:17 – to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children and
prepare a people for righteousness. Contact Pastor Joe McIntyre
at 425-4242-3801 (Bothell); Father Peter Hansen at 530-894-7409
(Chico); or Father Neil Moquin at 760-729-8901 (Carlsbad) for information
or to reserve space.
• Building A House of Prayer: Some Assembly Required is coming
to Southern California the weekend of February 20-22 as a weekend
retreat. This event shows Christians how to become people of prayer
– not just people who pray – in practical and easily
practiced terms. The retreat is sponsored by The Gathering in Brea.
• Jim will join NorCal authors Cindy Martinusen-Coloma and
Kathy Elliott to sign and share his books – Living As Ambassadors
of Relationships and The Holy Spirit and the End Times: A Season
of Unusual Miracles at Redding’s Bibles, Books and More on
Hilltop Drive. The event is scheduled for February 14 – that’s
a Saturday and it is Valentine’s Day – from 11 AM to
1 PM.
Anyone desiring to participate or to gain a fuller picture of any
current or upcoming events should go to the PrayNorthstate web site
at www.praynorthstate.org or call us at 530-941-3470.
WHAT THE COORDINATORS ARE UP TO
• Jim preaches Sunday, January 18 at Oasis Ministries in
Sacramento. Jim and Diana resume monthly prayer visits to the State
Capitol on Friday, January 16. Other Prayer Vanguard events in January
include a downtown Redding business Tuesday, January 13; the JH
Ranch Monday, January 19; and the Downtown Mall in Redding on Friday,
January 23.
• On a sad note, PrayNorthState TV prepares to air a last
broadcast on Monday, January 25. The recession has dried up funding
for this dimension of our ministry and, although we continue to
seek the two new sponsors needed to keep the program on the air,
we leave the continuation in God’s hands. At the same time,
anyone able to help is welcome to call us at 530-941-3470.
Please pray for our leaders and media sponsors:
Please pray for PrayNorthstate’s Board: Jim and Diana Wilson,
Dr. Andre Van Mol, Mollie Wilson, Charles Davidson, Charlie Harper,
