DECEMBER 2009 ISSUE – VOL. 9 #11
The Rev. Jim and Diana Wilson, Coordinators
Dear People of the Northstate Vision:
Advent is the traditional season that precedes Christmas; it carries
a heavy emphasis on the life and ministry of John the Baptist –
the one who forth-told the ways of preparation for the coming of
the King in the manger. He said we must make a straight highway
in the desert for the King, and that this highway is paved with
the fruits of repentance. Today John’s legacy – in this
spectacular season of sign and wonder – and decisions for
Jesus – forth-tells the ways of preparation for the return
of the King in glory.
John’s ministry has three central features. First, he treats
the Son as family – they are cousins, after all. That means
he – and we – have a chance to spend special and intimate
time with the Lord in this season – releasing the Spirit of
Worship. It also means we have special opportunity to treat those
the Son loves – the least of these – as though they
were more important than we are. Don’t have time? This is
how we prepare for His return – at a time we do not anticipate.
He is the Lord of time – He has enough for His purposes.
The second feature of John’s ministry is being first to recognize
Messiah and to partner with Him – to choose this day Whom
we will serve. We are in a season of dramatic interventions by God
– and He commands us to partner with Him regardless of previous
experience. And the final feature is that John decreases while Jesus
increases. Our Lord perfects His strength in our weakness, and the
more we decrease the more He can increase in us as we rise, take
our pallet, and walk with Him in a gospel of power and not just
words. Don’t have the energy, the gifts, the spiritual firepower?
Jesus says we are just the people He has been looking for. The question
is: Are we looking for Him? Or are we just busy getting ready for
Christmas?
CURRENTPrayNorthstateEVENTS
• PrayNorthState offers a one-day version of Praying Home
the Prodigals, a preparation event for the Kingdom Harvest, at the
bi-lingual Iglesia Nueva Vida in Red Bluff on Saturday, December
5. Participants learn to make warfare by honor and release bindings
on themselves and others – in this special season –
there has never been a better time to serve Christ. Call Pastor
Fred Villasenor at 530- 209-9535 or just call us at 530-941-3470
for information.
• Jim travels to New England for the first PrayNorthState
Ministry trip to that region from December 11-17. While there he
will preach and teach at several services, meet with regional intercessors,
and introduce the ministry of Prayer Vanguard to the region. New
England is the cradle of Christianity in the United States, the
birthplace of revival, and the launching pad for every political
and social institution we Americans hold dear, all of which are
grounded in our faith; the privilege of sowing Kingdom there is
awesome.
• PrayNorthState Radio and TV has impacted our region for
Christ since 2001. Our weekly radio broadcasts are heard in Redding,
Red Bluff, Mt. Shasta and Yreka; and on television Monday Mornings
throughout the region on Fox 20. We have enjoyed tremendous favor
over the years, but right now we are in serious need of new sponsors
if our programming is to continue. Business persons or anyone wishing
to serve the Lord as a sponsor of Christian broadcasting in a secular
venue are encouraged to call us at 530-941-3470 or e-mail praynorthstate@charter.net
for information about this opportunity.
• If you would like to book or attend any of the teaching
events we do – or learn more about them – call 530-941-3470
or e-mail praynorthstate@charter.net.

WHAT’S UP IN THE NORTHSTATE AND BEYOND
• KNTK Mount Shasta (and Yreka) is one of three radio stations
carrying PrayNorthState Radio. The station has recently changed
hands and will now carry the call letters KCHW, but at the same
102.3 spot on the FM dial. Our Saturday Morning program airs at
7 AM. Our congratulations and praise to God for new owner Martin
Howell.
• The Governor’s Prayer Team hosts prayer for governmental
leaders in Room 125 of the state capitol each month on the first
Friday from Noon to 1 PM. Pastors and intercessors are welcome.
Contact Stephanie Steele of the Governor’s Prayer team at
530-870-6906 for information.
• Redding Transformation hosts the second quarterly gathering
of community non-profit leaders from Noon to 1 PM on Tuesday, December
15. The Christian Non-Profit Brown Bag Lunch will be held in the
Redding Library Community Room at the Library – 1100 Parkview
Avenue in Redding. Please RSVP to Karen at 530-222-9371 or Karen@reddingtransformation.com.
There is no charge but participants must bring their own lunch.
Beverages are provided.
• On the freedom-of-expression/faith front a report comes
in from Pacific Justice Institute and Capitol Resource Institute
– both faith-based legal and advocacy groups and friends of
PrayNorthState – that the San Juan Unified School District
voted – in front of a meeting room packed with parents –
to rescind an earlier decision to permit students to leave campus
without parental notification for “confidential medical services”
– code for an abortion. Although there is no legal requirement
to notify parents in California, speakers warned that the district
faced civil liability in the event of injury to a child through
such “services.” PJI attorneys recently intervened successfully
in a similar case in the Modesto School District. PJI President
Brad Dacus urges us to remain in prayer as other school districts
struggle with these types of policy decisions.
• California’s Legislature recently adopted (and will
put before voters) a massive program to update and rebuild the state’s
water storage and distribution system. Still unaddressed is the
fact that eighty thousand workers are out of work in the Central
Valley because of an (admitted by the judge who wrote the decision)
illegal shutting down of water pumps in the Sacramento River Delta
in order to protect a two-inch fish that does not qualify as endangered.
Please pray (and don’t waste energy on anger) for justice
and real vision to emerge.
• California remains mired in a three-year drought. We have
seen the Lord break drought in this state many times in the last
two decades. Please pray – as though it all depended on us
and our prayers – for God to bring needed rain and snow in
all of the abundance of which He alone is capable. Pray He is revealed
in this breaking of the drought in unmistakable fashion.
• Traction comes to Sacramento December 27-29. This conference
event is keyed to connecting young adults of the Genesis Generation
with God’s passion – for them and for His Kingdom on
earth as it is in Heaven. The event kicks off on Sunday Evening,
12/27, with Lincoln Brewster in concert and registration for the
days following. Plenary speakers include Jeff Lewis on God’s
Greatest Passion; Lance Hahn on God’s Purpose to Glorify and
Make Himself Known; Jeffrey DeLeon on the Gospel of the Kingdom;
Kathy Giske on Kingdom Priorities in the 21st Century; and Reid
Saunders on Bringing Light to the Nations. There will be some fifty
workshops presented and multiple panel discussions. Jim will be
teaching a workshop titled “Breaking the Power Paradigm”
and speakers range in age and perspective. The event will be held
at William Jessup University in Sacramento. Contact the web site
www.tractionforgod.com for more information or to register. Watch
the December newsletter for details; set the days apart now!
• Perspectives on the World Christian Movement comes to Redding,
Chico, and Yuba City in January 2010. This fifteen week course features
fifteen teachers and a wide variety of perspectives on the common
passion to see and celebrate God taking the world for His Kingdom
with the participation of each of the people called by His Name.
Go to www.tractionforgod.com. for this one too.
• The Redding location for Perspectives will be Valley Christian
Fellowship on Rancho Road and the class will be held on Tuesdays
beginning on January 12. The Chico course will be held at Matthew’s
Café beginning Monday, January 11, and Yuba City is hosted
at Church of Glad Tidings beginning Sunday, January 10. There is
a fee of $245.00 for participation and some scholarship aid is available.
Jim will be teaching one of the two cross cultural ministries units
in March and we cannot recommend this program of preparation for
the Great Commission too highly! Call us directly with questions
you may be unable to answer on the web sites – for Perspectives
or Traction – 530-941-3470.
• Listeners to PrayNorthState Radio know that we deliberately
focus our programming on local people who minister outside of the
box – ordinary people serving an extraordinary God, as we
like to say, although we have been privileged to feature national
icons such as Mike Reagan and Marcus Lutrell (former Navy Seal and
author of Lone Survivor) from time to time. Our guest on the weekend
of January 16-17 will be Dr. Hugh Ross, founder of the Reasons to
Believe Foundation. Dr. Ross is one of the foremost spokespersons
for Creationism and/or Intelligent Design in the world today. He
is as entertaining as he is brilliant, and his testimony is astounding.
Hearing him for the whole hour of PrayNorthState Radio will be a
privilege not to be missed.
• B & T Satellite and Redding Home Theatre has offered
a $100.00 donation to PrayNorthState following each purchase of
a sound system. Call 530-510-8101.
UPCOMING PrayNorthState EVENTS
• Praying Home the Prodigals will be offered in Upper Lake
at (call Pastor Vic Rogers at 707-275-2888) over the weekend of
January 15-16; in Orland at First Baptist Church (call Pastor Mike

First Presbyterian Church (call Dwayne Tanabe at 530-846-0630) the

that trains us for participating in the greatest season for God’s
intervention and our decision to accept Him as Lord in all history.
• When Seasons Collide is a new PrayNorthState teaching series
that includes themes like Unprecedented Favor; Breaking the Power
Paradigm; A Runaway Freight Train; and Three Amigos – Elijah,
John the Baptist, and Barnabas. It is designed for this special
season. Also available is our series on the economy – Seeding

530-941-3470 or e-mail praynorthstate@charter.net for details or
to schedule.
• Everything we know about revival and transformation are
in the pages of The Holy Spirit and the End Times. All we have to
offer on reconciliation – the pre-requisite for transformation
– is found in Living as Ambassadors of Relationships. The
books sell for $16.00, but we are offering the set – in this
season – for $25.00. Prices include taxes, although a $5.00
shipping charge is added to shipped orders. Jim has guested on nationally
syndicated radio programs The Truth Uncovered, The Frank Pastore
Show, and Bytes. Holy Spirit and the End Times has also been translated
into Indonesian; these books are hot!
Anyone desiring to participate or to gain a fuller picture of any
current or upcoming events should go to the PrayNorthstate web site
at www.praynorthstate.org or call us at 530-941-3470.
