MAY 2008 ISSUE – VOL. 8 #4
The Rev. Jim and Diana Wilson, Coordinators

Dear People of the Northstate Vision:

We launch May with the National Day of Prayer and the traditional celebration of Jesus’ return to His Father’s side in the Ascension on the same day. May 11 – just ten days later – is the Sunday of Pentecost – the Harvest – and also the Global Day of Prayer. How often do these coincide? Hmmm.

Pentecost is the finest example in Scripture of what I love to call sacramental outbursts of God’s grace and glory. It is the birthday of the Body of Christ, when Peter quotes from Joel 2:28 about the outpouring of the Spirit in the last days as three thousand people join the Kingdom in one time and place. But the “all flesh” predicted by the prophet is far from fulfilled – and even today, when more than two billion populate the Kingdom on earth, we are only about a third of the way to “all flesh” filled with Him. A sacrament is a deposit on the promise of God and as we sow into its event we see the reality escalate into fulfillment. Jesus said – in Mark 9:1 – that some present would see the Kingdom come. Scholars think the disciples mistakenly believed He spoke of a short time of waiting when the reality was far longer, but the truth is that the Kingdom came on Pentecost and we are waiting for its fullness because that is how sacramental events work. But what triggered it?

The disciples worshipped, prayed and obeyed – to the extent revelation had already unfolded – without ceasing from the Ascension to the Pentecost. We are called to become people of prayer – as opposed to people who pray – and to walk through each door opened by prayer and occupy the land. This is more than finite beings can handle – and so the principal thrust of our prayer must be to “make me a new wineskin every morning and do in me what I can’t do in myself.” He awaits our repentance to harvest the Kingdom in us.
CURRENTPrayNorthstateEVENTS
• PrayNorthState’s web site – www.praynorthstate.org – after many glitches and delays is finally configured properly to receive orders for Living As Ambassadors of Relationships, Jim’s first book. To order a copy, go to the web site and click the link to the book and then click ordernow. The price of $16.00 includes taxes and is about 20% below retail; however we must charge an additional $5.00 for shipping and handling on internet orders in the US.

• Jim will be signing his book on Saturdays in May – at Lisa’s Book Nook on May 3 from 12:30 to 2:30 and at Barnes and Noble on May 10 from 2-4 in Redding. (The book is also available at Holy Family Books; Bibles, Books and More; and Bethel Church’s Eagles’ Nest.) He signs books at Bible House in Elk Grove on May 24 from 2-4 (and on Friday the 23rd from 5-7); signings are scheduled for the Chico and Sacramento Barnes and Nobles June 14 and 15.

• We present Prophetic Acts With Impact in two locations in May. On Friday and Saturday, May 16 and 17 we will be at Jordan Crossing in Oroville and on May 30 and 31 the event is at New Life Church in Dunsmuir. Fridays are from 7-9:30 and Saturdays from 8:30 to 5 as we teach and train for participation in such sacramental outbursts as speaking the whole Word over your community; ministering and documenting projects of targeted prayer for your community (including the crime rate, suicides, cancers, and protecting young people); and bringing Prayer Vanguard to churches, schools and businesses. Breakfast and lunch are provided and love offerings are taken to cover the costs. Jim’s book and Diana’s famous jewelry will be on hand, and lots of hands-on experience. Call 530-624-8426 for information on the Jordan Crossing (Oroville) event and 530-235-0139 for the New Life Church (Dunsmuir) event. These are first opportunities for us to share this teaching in Oroville and Dunsmuir and we are excited!

WHAT THE COORDINATORS ARE UP TO

• Jim serves as MC for National Day of Prayer at the Wednesday (April 30, 7-9) and Thursday (May 1, Noon to 1) events. Jim and Diana will participate in the Single Parent Family Festival on Saturday, May 10, at Lake Redding Park. He is the featured guest on Issues and Answers (Fox 30/Cable 2 – TBA May); Living Your Destiny in God (Fox 30/Cable 2, April 29, 6:30 AM); and Murray in the Morning (KQMS AM 1400, May 1, 8 AM). Prayer Vanguard comes to Lake Redding Park May 3; to the state capitol May 8; and Jim flies to North Carolina for a Prophetic Acts event on June 5.

• Jim preaches on Sundays in May at Jordan Crossing, Oroville, on the 4th at 6 PM; at Victory Celebration Center at 10:30 AM in Kelceyville and at Neighborhood Fellowship in Clearlake at 6 PM – both on May 11. He preaches at Victory Tabernacle in Sacramento on the 25th at 11 AM.
WHAT’S UP IN THE NORTHSTATE

• National Day of Prayer is observed on May 1 this year. In addition to the Wednesday Evening and Noon observances at Redding’s City Hall Redding Transformation plans a ten-day series of events called Saturate from May 1-10. Prayer tents will dot Redding streets and teams will be sent out to do acts of grace in various locations – call 530-222-9371 for information. The Day is becoming a Season!

• Carenet Pregnancy Centers of the Tri Counties holds their annual banquet on Thursday, May 1, (in conjunction with NDP) from 6:30 to 8:45 PM at the Redding Convention Center on Auditorium Drive in Redding. The dinner is free although pledges are requested during the evening; this is the principal fundraiser for a ministry that has increased its client load by 300% in 2007, operates a full service medical clinic and provides compassionate care for women (and men) involved in crisis pregnancies, and blesses other ministries at every opportunity. Call 530-246-7075 for information or to reserve a space for this evening of steak (or pasta), testimony to life, and Jim will even be there signing books as well!

• Leaders of a movement to place a constitutional amendment on the November ballot in California to define marriage as between a man and a woman announce that they now have nearly twice the required number of petition signatures to achieve this. Still underway are efforts to place measures on the ballot to reverse the effects of AB 777 (revising textbooks to promote alternative family arrangements) and to adopt Sarah’s Law (requiring parental notification when minors seek an abortion). Contact Capitol Resource Family Impact at 916-498-1940 for information on these issues. Governor Arnold Schwartzenegger has announced that he will campaign against the marriage initiative.

• Christian Living Solutions is a new web site ministry that seeks to draw the Body of Christ together by publicizing Christ-honoring events of all kinds. Churches and leaders are welcome to post events on the site free of charge. Facilitator Paul Millet is seeking referrals to God-honoring businesses so that he might honor them and post them on-line as well, although that service is not free. The site is up and running, albeit under construction in some dimensions. Millet says his aim is to carry out the summary of the Law on-line. The site can be accessed at www.christianlivingdirectory.net and Millet himself can be reached by phone at 530-221-7864 or 530-921-5177 or through the web site. The ministry is organizing as a religious non-profit and will be supported by donations.

• Pastors Kim and Mary Andersson will conduct the latest in the School of the Spirit (SOS) teaching series in Chico from April 27 through June 22. The course may be joined in progress. The meetings will be held at Chico’s Holiday Inn each Sunday Evening beginning at 7 PM and there is no charge for participation, although love offerings will be received at each meeting. They pastor Christ the Rock Church in Anderson and are affiliated with MorningStar Ministries. They will teach on ministry, the sharing of God’s heart, and the prophetic community into which all Christians are called. A special guest (Jim) will be the speaker for the evenings of June 15 and 22 and will teach on becoming a community of reconciliation – first with family and friends and then reaching beyond the personal circle into larger and larger communities. The Holiday Inn is located at 685 Manzanita Court in Chico.

• The semi-annual Leadership Advance returns to Redding’s Bethel Church from Monday, May 5 to Wednesday, May 7. The event begins at 7 PM on Monday and concludes following the 7 PM Evening meeting on Wednesday. Leaders from all streams of the Body gather for prayer, worship, and fellowship.

• Little Country Church in Redding hosts A Night to Honor Israel on May 14, the 60th Anniversary of Israel’s independence. The evening begins at 7 PM and features worship, an address by former Palestinian terrorist and now lover of Israel’s Messiah Walid Shoebat, and pledging to support Israel, although there is no charge for the event. Call the church at 530-222-4092 for information.

• Bethel Church is also accepting applications for the annual School of Worship. This function of the School of Supernatural Ministry operates this year from June 18 through July 11 and features keynoters Brian Doerksen, Rita Springer and Ray Hughes – each of whom has gained international renown not just for skill in leading worship but for imparting a Spirit of Worship through their ministries. The Lord has released a number of words to shape this season and the release of that very (Holy) Spirit is the first among them. There is a cost of $750.00 for participation in the school. Contact the church at 530-246-6000 for info or to register – or go on line at ibethel.org.

• Teen Challenge of Northern California holds its annual Shotgun Golf Tournament on Saturday, June 7, beginning at 8 AM, at Redding’s Gold Hills Golf Club on Oasis Road. Teen Challenge is the most effective recovery ministry in history – founded in 1958 by David Wilkerson of The Cross and the Switchblade fame – the ministry boasts a unique track record in which 86% of graduates remain clean and sober five years after graduation. The golf tournament is the principal fundraiser for the Redding-based chapter. Contact the ministry at 877-877-5055 or go to www.teenchallenge.ws for information. It was PrayNorthState’s privilege to introduce this ministry to Fiji in 2008.

• The Chico Prayer House will sponsor and lead a prayer and worship tour of Israel from June 14-26. Local leaders Eric Teitelman and Ken Winton are organizing the tour at a cost of $3195.00 per person based on double occupancy. Participants visit Caesarea Philippi, Megiddo, and the prophesied site of Armageddon. Also visited are Jericho, Tel Aviv, and Jerusalem. Call 866-267-2511 for information or to register. This is a first-of-its kind for Chico.

UPCOMING PrayNorthState EVENTS
• Prophetic Acts With Impact will be offered at Ardent Faith Ministries in Huntersville, North Carolina, from June 6-7; at Victory Celebration Center in Kelceyville, California, from June 20-21; and at All Saints Anglican Church in Bakersfield, California, from June 27-28. All of these events are held over Friday Evenings from 7-9:30 and Saturdays from 8:30 to 5.

• Jim travels again to Fiji and New Zealand from July 15 through August 11. He will teach Prophetic Acts With Impact in Auckland, Wellington, and Rotorua, New Zealand – ministering among Maori, Samoan, and Indian congregations. He will continue on to Fiji for the annual outreach in the Vatawaqa settlement and to conduct follow-up work on the introduction of Teen Challenge and Carenet Pregnancy Centers. These trips do not traditionally pay for themselves and we ask prayer and giving as each of you are led. Donations should come to PrayNorthState at P. O. Box 493743, Redding, CA 96049-3743.

• We introduce a new teaching series this Fall titled Praying in the Prodigals that is based entirely on Living As Ambassadors of Relationships. The maiden voyage at a Redding church begins in October. Call us for info or to book.

Anyone desiring to participate or to gain a fuller picture of any current or upcoming events should go to the PrayNorthstate web site at www.praynorthstate.org or call us at 530-941-3470.
