APRIL 2008 ISSUE – VOL. 8 #3 The Rev. Jim and Diana Wilson, Coordinators Dear People of the Northstate Vision: Zephaniah is one of the more obscure prophets; yet like them all he writes compellingly of the coming Messiah and the Day of the Lord that He brings. “At that time I will gather you; at that time I will bring you home. I will give you honor and praise among all the peoples of the earth when I restore your fortunes before your very eyes.” Messiah has come – the Easter season trumpets that reality. The Kingdom breaks out with Him on Pentecost; it is for the resurrection of His people we wait – even as the promise is fulfilled in incremental steps. Written first and still to the Jews, it applies to all. Our trip to Fiji and New Zealand was bathed in both favor and warfare from start to finish. We prayed for and saw people healed of blindness, given newly reconstructed knees, and one apparent healing (still to be verified) of leukemia. Political issues beyond our ken were revealed prophetically – and referred to those who could deal with them – and the government officials we met were excited about the ministries we came to introduce. At the same time we battled exhaustion and infection the whole time – and upon our return! The trip was much more expensive than anticipated, and all of the funds were made available nonetheless – yet we find ourselves in greater need on our return than anticipated as well. The message of mutual reconciliation stemming from the privilege of mutual repentance was received with tears of joy wherever we spoke. What does this teach us? God is truly on His horse and on His way – in our region and where we travel. The enemy is raging. God begins again with the least connected and complacent; yet our active and sacrificial participation is required if we are to participate in the blessing. Time is short! He is risen! Praise the Lord! CURRENTPrayNorthstateEVENTS * PrayNorthState’s web site – www.praynorthstate.org – after many glitches and delays is finally configured properly to receive orders for Living As Ambassadors of Relationships, Jim’s first book. (His second, The Holy Spirit and the End Times: A Season of Unusual Miracles, is due out from Destiny Image in October.) To order a copy, go to the web site and click the link to the book and then click ordernow. The price of $16.00 includes taxes and is about 20% below retail; however we must charge an additional $5.00 for shipping and handling on internet orders in the US. Call us at 530-941-3470 or e-mail praynorthstate@charter.net for local orders with no shipping charge or e-mail for international orders at a higher shipping charge. All shipped or personally obtained books will be signed. In addition the book is carried at Redding’s Bibles, Books and More; Holy Family Bookstores; Chiropractic First Healing Services; Eagles’ Nest Bookstore (Bethel Church); and Barnes and Noble at $16.99 plus tax. It is also carried at Borders in Eureka and Lighthouse Books in Crescent City. Locations in Chico and Sacramento areas will soon be added. * Jim signs books at Chiropractic First Healing Services – 1435 Market Street in Redding’s Downtown Mall – from 3-6 PM on Thursday, April 3, and on Friday, April 4, from 8-11 AM. On successive Saturdays, Jim will be signing books at Holy Family Books (April 5) and Holy Family Bookstore Outlet (April 12) – both located at Cypress Square Shopping Center on Athens at Cypress. He will be at the stores from Noon to 3 PM on both Saturdays. Watch our prayer alerts for TBA signing events now and in May. * National Day of Prayer comes on Thursday, May 1, this year. PrayNorthState will coordinate the event with the help of a first class steering committee including Dr. Ed Roberts (Realms of Influence); Jason Hedge (Bethel Church); Sharre Littrell (Carenet Pregnancy Centers); Major Wayne Wetter (Salvation Army); County Supervisor Linda Hartman; Jon Thompson (Redding Transformation); and Good News Rescue Mission’s Executive Director Dave Honey. In keeping with the national theme of morphing the Day into a Season of Prayer, there will be a number of old and new occasions to praise the Lord and seek His face for our nation and the communities that compose it. The traditional Bible Reading Marathon will be held from Monday (6 AM start) on April 28 through Thursday (12 Noon close) on May 1 – around the clock and through the Word of God from start to finish in the breezeway of the Redding City Hall. (Anyone wishing to participate by reading for fifteen minutes should call us at 530-941-3470 or e-mail praynorthstate@charter.net.) On Wednesday Evening, April 30, from 7-9 PM (this is new) Christians – and any others who wish to seek the Lord for the nation in our company – are invited to gather in the plaza of Redding’s City Hall for a time of praise, testimony, and tents devoted to prayer of various kinds from prophetic arts to healing prayer to ministering prayer to veterans and their families. On May 1 the traditional Noon observance will also be held in the City Hall plaza – 777 Cypress Avenue. WHAT’S UP IN THE NORTHSTATE * National Day of Prayer is observed on May 1 this year. In addition to the activities described under Current Events – previous page – Redding Transformation plans a ten-day Season of Prayer and Grace from May 1-10. The prayer tents that have dotted Redding streets several times each year will be included – call 530-222-9371 for information. The very popular Paah-ho-ammi prayer project will be again conducted in Fall 2008 when hundreds from around the Body will covenant to pray daily over three months for targeted prayer topics. And Carenet Pregnancy Centers of the Tri Counties holds their annual fundraising banquet on May 1 – the National Day of Prayer – in yet another partnership effort. The Day is becoming a Season! * Carenet Pregnancy Centers of the Tri Counties holds their annual banquet on Thursday, May 1, from 6:30 to 8:45 PM at the Redding Convention Center on Auditorium Drive in Redding. The dinner is free although pledges are requested during the evening; this is the principal fundraiser for a ministry that has increased its client load by 300% in 2007, operates a full service medical clinic and provides compassionate care for women (and men) involved in crisis pregnancies, and blesses other ministries at every opportunity. Call 530-246-7075 for information or to reserve a space for this evening of steak (or pasta), testimony to life, and Jim will even be there signing books as well! * Capitol Resource Family Impact – Christian staffed – has begun a new referendum petition drive seeking the reversal of state laws that took effect in January and mandate the promotion of same-sex unions in public schools. The first drive narrowly missed the half million needed signatures for the February ballot in only seventy days; the new drive must start from scratch gathering signatures – backers are quite confident this time out. For information or to become involved, contact Capitol Resource Family Impact at 660 J Street, Suite 250, in Sacramento. (Donations are not tax deductible.) Karen England leads this drive and may be contacted at kengland@capitolresource.org and more information may be obtained by calling Meredith Turney at 916-498-1940. * The Pacific Justice Institute has been defending home schooling families’ right to educate their children in what has become known as the Rachel L. Case. Brad Dacus, president of the institute, reports a recent appeals court ruling requiring home-based educators to be credentialed teachers – contrary to California law – has been vacated by the court and will be re-heard. This is important news as home-schooled children often exceed the test scores of their more conventionally schooled peers and have become coveted university recruits in many instances. Call the institute at 916-857-6900 for more information and pray that parents will be enabled to retain this important option for educating their kids. * The Revival Fire Men’s Advance will be held from Friday, April 4, through Sunday, April 6, at Family Christian Center in Woodleaf – in the Sierra Foothills east of Sacramento. Cleddie Keith will keynote and worship will be led by Matthew Oliver and Consecrated. The registration of $125.00 covers two nights lodging and meals. Pastors Rich Oliver, David Crone, and Dan McCollam are featured as well. Call 916-988-6606 or register at www.riverlife.net. * The 23rd Annual Community Leader’ Prayer Breakfast will be held in Redding on Friday, April 11, 7 – 8:30 AM, for a $15.00 donation. Olympic medalist and (one-time) world record holder in track events Jim Ryun is this year’s keynote speaker. Call 530-227-7756 or 242-6155 to reserve space. * Sierra Ministries International hosts the Northern California Women’s Conference April 11-13 (Friday through Sunday) at Springs of Living Water Conference Center (Richardson Springs). The cost is $155.00 per person before March 30; $175.00 after that date. Keynote speaker Michelle Lewandowski is a full-time missionary to Poland with her husband, David. They specialize in ministries of deliverance and release from spiritual bondage. Call 530-478-1478 for information or to register. * The FreedomRiders chapter of Christian Motorcycle Association and Liberty Hill Christian Church team up to present the 11th Annual Jubilee Campout for bikers and anyone else who loves the Lord – or wants to get to know Him better. The event features live music, bike games, and fun for the whole family. It is held the last weekend in April – the 25th through the 27th – and includes a bike blessing and memorial for fallen riders. Call 530-244-0417 or 347-7777. * Harvest ConneXion 2008 will be held in Woodland, California on Saturday, April 12. The event is sponsored by Pioneer Ministries and the Harvest Connection Network and will feature Keynote Speaker Dr. Solomon – and African missionary – speaking about the phenomenal church growth throughout the continent of Africa. Other speakers include Mathew Ellison, James Kim, and Larry Walker. Go to www.weisnerfamily.org (see Harvest Connection 2008 tab) or call 530-514-2109 to register or for information. * Christian Living Solutions is a new web site ministry that seeks to draw the Body of Christ together by publicizing Christ-honoring events of all kinds. Churches and leaders are welcome to post events on the site free of charge. Facilitator Paul Millet is seeking referrals to God-honoring businesses so that he might honor them and post them on-line as well, although that service is not free. The site is up and running, albeit under construction in some dimensions. Millet says his aim is to carry out the summary of the Law on-line. The site can be accessed at www.christianlivingdirectory.net and Millet himself can be reached by phone at 530-221-7864 or 530-921-5177 or through the web site. The ministry is organizing as a religious non-profit and will be supported by donations. UPCOMING PrayNorthState EVENTS * Prophetic Acts With Impact will be offered in Oroville at Jordan Crossing Ministries on Friday and Saturday, May 16-17, from 7:00 to 9:30 on Friday and from 8:30 to 5:00 on Saturday. New Life Church will co-sponsor the weekend event. Jordan Crossing is located at the corner of Irwin and Williams Roads in Oroville. Call 530-624-8426 for info or registration. * Jim will share pulpit and platform with Australian prophetess and evangelist Sheena Ryan when he teaches Prophetic Acts With Impact over June 6-8 at Ardent Faith Ministries in Huntersville, North Carolina. These Friday Night and all day Saturday events teach about coordinated and targeted prayer for a community as per Paah-ho-ammi, speaking the Word of God over communities as per Bible Reading Marathons, and the importance of onsite-with-insight prayer as per Prayer Vanguard.
