| Dear People of the Northstate Vision:
We have the final statistics in for Paah-ho-ammi 2007 and once
again God shows off when His people show up! According to the coroner
there is an 86% reduction in suicides against the same period in
2006. Decisions for life increased by 130%. Traffic fatalities dropped
by a more modest 15% (re various law enforcement agencies) while
youth deaths went down by more than 60% in the reckoning of the
Health Department. Our primary theme was to facilitate a culture
of life in prayer and God has been more than gracious. Our purpose
now is to proclaim His grace.
At the same time, we are challenged in prayer as never before.
Although DUI collisions went down by 22% in Redding, we had actually
prayed for a reduction in DUI arrests – and those rose by
5% in the county and by a whopping 65% in the city of Redding. (This
should be attributed to stepped up enforcement – for which
we praise God – but our prayer is that those in bondage would
be set free.) We praise God for the 2000 jobs added to our economy
in May and June – but we are challenged when we see that all
but 100 of them were offset by other job losses in July. We praise
God for protecting us in this volatile housing market – in
July the increase in foreclosures was less than a third of the state
increase; building permits are up and commercial values are rising
faster than in the record setting year 2005. But we seek more than
a lighter hit – we seek His abundance. And we especially beg
Him to again lower the cancer admits which this year rose by 17%.
Our purpose now is to continue to seek His face.
We praise God to the skies for what He has done. We also ask each
of you to re-commit to daily prayer for all that God has promised
in this region.

WHAT’S UP IN THE NORTHSTATE
• Paah-ho-ammi participants were thrilled to hear that God
generated a 130% increase in decisions for life in Shasta County
during three months of prayer. 40 Days for Life is a national pro-life
ministry that is gathering people of prayer in 90 cities across
32 states for a forty-day vigil for life. Some will pray and fast,
others will stand silent witness at abortion clinics, and still
others will speak out through media and educational events. The
vigil is set for September 26 through November 4 and participants
are still gathering. Call Wynette Sills at 916-355-1577 for information
or to involve your community.
• The Pacific Justice Institute will be offering half-day
seminars for churches and para-church leaders on legal challenges
unique to their ministries in various Northern California locations
in September. PJI Director Brad Dacus will lead the seminars in
Crescent City (September 19), Eureka (September 20) and Sacramento
(September 21). The seminar comes to Redding next January –
watch this newsletter. Call 916-857-6900 for info or to register.
• Teen Challenge is the most successful recovery ministry
in history – with a track record of 86% successful graduates
of its program. (Of course virtually any faith-based recovery ministry
boasts a 3-4 times greater effectiveness than their secular counterparts.)
The passion of regional TC leaders is to build a residential facility
in Shasta County alongside existing centers in Lincoln and Yuba
City. Their annual regional fundraising banquets are set for Calvary
Christian Center in Yuba City on September 15; Sunset Christian
Center in Rocklin on September 22; and Bethel Church in Redding
on September 29. All banquets are set for Saturdays at 5 PM and
tickets are a donation of $25.00. Call 530-246-1561 or 916-362-2800
for information or reservations.
• It has already happened by the time you read this –
but you can do it in your own community too – Redding’s
Campus Awakening – a ministry by and for Genesis Generation
people – hosted internationally known prophet Cindy Jacobs
at UC Berkeley on Sunday, September 2. For information on how this
ministry is impacting high schools and universities go to jesusculture.org
or call Bethel Church at 530-246-6000.
• Ceili Rain – pronounced Kaili Rain – comes to
the Cascade Theatre on Saturday, September 8, and is joined by local
vocalist and worship leader Kim Walker. The band offers Christian
rock from a Celtic standpoint. Leader Bob Halligan says the band
exists to help people find their way to God in terms of their God-given
identity. Visit ceilirain.com for info about the ministry and call
530-243-8877 or go to cascadetheatre.org for tickets and reservations.
• The Christian Medical and Dental Association sponsors a
Bioethics Symposium in Redding beginning at 8:30 AM on Saturday,
September 29, in the Humphreys-Collard Room of Simpson University
in Redding. See a related feature on p. 5 of the newsletter.
• The first of its kind Women’s Freedom Conference will
be held in Redding on Saturday, October 20, from 9 AM to 3:30 PM
at Redding Christian Fellowship – 2157 Victor Avenue in Redding.

of The Invisible Bond. Registrations include a $38.00 donation before
September 15 and $45.00 after. Call 530-243-3373 for information

Sharre Littrell on PrayNorthState Radio on September 29 and 30.
The event is sponsored by Set Free Ministries and co-sponsored by
Marriage Mentors, Carenet and LifeLight Pregnancy Centers, PrayNorthState,
Imago Dei Ministries and multiple Shasta County businesses and ministries.
• Carenet Pregnancy Center holds its annual fundraiser Walk
for Life in Redding, Weaverville and Red Bluff on Saturday, October
6, at 9:00 AM. Participants ask friends and neighbors to support
their two mile walk with a lump sum gift to the ministry. Walkers
may walk on the 6th or at a time of their choosing. All proceeds
go to support this ministry of caring for women (and men) caught
up in a crisis pregnancy. Call 530-246-7075 (Redding) or 530-528-8102
(Red Bluff) to support a walker or to become one.
• Redding Transformation returns prayer tents to the streets
of Redding on September 11-13. Tents will be set up on streets and
interested passersby will be offered prayer without preaching for
any need they bring with them. Tents are generally operating between
about 10 and 4. Call 530-357-3150 for info.
• Connecting Business Men to Christ – formerly known
as Christian BusinessMen’s Committee – and still known
by CBMC – holds its annual Golf Scramble and Luncheon on Friday,
September 21 at 12:00 Noon. The event will occur at the Palo Cedro
Golf Course, reservations are required, and a donation of $25.00
is asked of participants. For reservations call 530-223-4075. Nick
Rogers, local church elder, college football legend, and local founder
of Marriage Mentors will speak at the luncheon.
• Francis Court is a transitional living housing complex and
a project of Faithworks Coalition in which families recovering from
various disruptions of their life together can spend 12-18 months
in a subsidized 2-3 bedroom furnished apartment and then move on
to a more permanent situation. Churches and individuals provide
furnishings, which the families take with them when they go. That
means the facility is constantly seeking new donations of furnishings.
Call 530-242-1492 for information about Faithworks, Francis Court,
or to donate. Everything from beds, sofas, and chairs to small tables
and lamps are needed.
• Kaleo is the name of an annual event held in Siskiyou County
as a partnership of the various youth ministries of the county.
The event was held this year on August 24-26 at the Yreka Southern
Baptist Church on Oregon Street and drew more than 150 young people
to worship and be turned loose to share the Gospel. John Garrick
of Portland, Oregon’s Eternal Impact Ministries was 2007’s
prime speaker. Call 530-842-2689 for info to bring Kaleo to your
area.
• Oroville’s Foothill Community Church will host a Healing
Ministry Training Seminar on September 14 and 15. Sessions are from
7-9:30 PM on Friday and from 9-4 on Saturday. The program is designed
for people from all streams of the Body and will focus on Biblical
principles related to healing and how to put them to work in prayer
and ministry. The Rev. Dan Prout leads Sierra Ministries International
in Nevada County will speak. Dan’s 2003 Arrowhead Project
was the inspiration for Paah-ho-ammi. Call 530-533-0912 for info.
A $40.00 donation is asked of participants.
UPCOMING PrayNorthstate EVENTS
• PrayNorthState brings Building A House of Prayer: Some
Assembly Required to Oceanview Baptist Church in Crescent City the
weekend of February 8-10. Jim will make a January trip to Crescent
City to seed vision for that event as well. The weekend conference
seeks to help participants make unceasing prayer a lifestyle as
natural as breathing. There is focus on prayer as ongoing conversation
with God, but at least equal emphasis is given to pragmatic prayer
for community transformation, healing, and seeking vision for personal
and corporate life. Hands on experience is included at every step
– along with tips about documenting and proclaiming results.
• PrayNorthState Radio is planning another expansion –
this time to a large-ranging AM station in Yuba City that would
again effectively double the territory in which our weekly broadcast
is heard. The program’s debut is scheduled for November 3,
but is contingent on committing sufficient sponsorship. Prayer is
asked for this exciting new stage in the PrayNorthState adventure.
Anyone desiring to participate or to gain a fuller picture of any
current or upcoming events should go to the PrayNorthstate web site
at www.praynorthstate.org or call us at 530-941-3470.
Christian Medical Dental Association
Bioethics Symposium
The Redding chapter of the Christian Medical and Dental Association
will cooperate with Simpson University to offer a bio-ethics symposium
for pastors, chaplains, Christian leaders and medical professionals
on Saturday, September 29, from 8:30 AM to 12:45. The event will
be held in the Humphreys-Collard Room off of the university’s
cafeteria. National and local speakers will be featured with Dr.
Andre Van Mol speaking on “Understanding the Stem Cell Confusion”
and a second address on physician-assisted suicide, along with Dr.
Tom Perry who will address, “Abortion, the Debate that Refuses
to Go Away.”
The Keynote speaker is Dr. Gene Rudd, national vice president of
the association. He will speak on “When Do You Become You?”
Dr. Rudd will close the conference with a talk on reproductive technologies
and their ethical implications. Some find ethical topics to be less
than pragmatic; reality is that attitudes on these issues shape
a larger perspective on issues ranging from who gets health care
to how scientific research funding is prioritized across the board.
Local leaders in Church and medicine are encouraged to come and
have their thinking stimulated across the board. Call Bay Area/Redding
Director Ken Jones at 925-788-2561 for information or to register.
There is no charge for attendance as costs have been underwritten
by Christian doctors and supportive members of the community. The
seminar is intended for people in leadership positions only and
reservations are required.
Please pray for our leaders and media sponsors:
Please pray for PrayNorthstate’s Board: Jim and Diana Wilson,
