| NOVEMBER 2007 ISSUE – VOL. 7 #10
The Rev. Jim and Diana Wilson, Coordinators
Dear People of the Northstate Vision:
The Lord our God has answered prayer abundantly in the crisis of
wildfire returning to Southern California. In late October PrayNorthState
partnered with the Justice House of Prayer, statewide National Day
of Prayer, Uniting Our Hearts in Prayer, the Border Prayer Posse,
and Capitol Hill Prayer Partners in calling for consistent, concerted
and focused prayer for the people of Southern California and the
firefighters from around the state and nation who are fighting the
fires on their behalf. We don’t know how many thousands prayed
daily, but we do know what God did.
We all prayed for the winds to die and the rain to come. By Tuesday
Morning He was already confounding the predictions of many more
days of dry Santa Ana winds – they were dropping and by Thursday
they were gone. By the weekend there was a gentle rain falling in
parts of SoCal and the feared western winds from the ocean had come
– but they drove the fires back on themselves instead of sending
them in new directions. There is still danger – and much to
be done before the recovery effort can truly begin – but the
predictions of greater loss than in 2003 have not come true. We
need to praise the Lord as fervently as we prayed to Him –
and keep praying too!
While we seek the Lord’s face in the face of crisis let us
pray for the harvest of souls that can and should be the legacy
of His intervention. Let us pray for the Church – that she
would unite in prayer as Our Lord commands – for there are
so many more ministries and congregations that could have joined
in the partnership (and perhaps some unknown to us that did) of
prayer over the wildfires. Pray all the more for His promised rain
– which we need – and His reign – which we need
even more – in California.
CURRENTPrayNorthstateEVENTS
PrayNorthState Radio is invited – and God affirms in prayer
– to begin broadcasting ASAP on KMYC AM 1410 in Yuba City.
We will air at 9 AM Saturdays and effectively double the coverage
area for our radio broadcasting. Our debut on KMYC is frankly contingent
on securing a minimum of four sponsoring churches or businesses
within that coverage area. We have one of the four; pray for the
rest. Please pray that God will provide and call us at 530-941-3470
or e-mail to praynorthstate@charter.net if you have a referral from
Yuba City south to North Sacramento or from Yuba City north to Chico.

WHAT’S UP IN THE NORTHSTATE
Sunday, November 11, is the anniversary of the end of World War
I. But the war against Christ and those who follow Him continues
to rage around the world. More than a quarter billion Christians
– that’s about one in eight of the Body of Christ –
risk their lives as they proclaim Jesus as their Lord. Sunday, November
11, is the worldwide day of prayer for the Persecuted Church. Let
us all join together to pray for the martyrs – the witnesses
– of the Good News.
Crosspointe Community Church in Redding will host a presentation
of Heartcraft Ministries on Saturday, November 3, from 9 AM to 3
PM, and again on Sunday, November 4, from 12 Noon to 6 PM, at the
campus located at 2960 Hartnell Avenue. Heartcraft is a ministry
dedicated to supporting people who accept Jesus from a Muslim, Hindu
or Buddhist background – many of whom are declared outcasts
by their families and cultures. The ministry offers them a chance
to make a living through handicrafts. The ministry can be contacted
at 530-865-4199 or at www.heartcraft.org.
The 40 Days of Life Vigil conducted daily in Sacramento since September
26 concludes on Sunday, November 4. The California vigil partners
with Christians in eighty cities and thirty-two states to make a
prayerful witness for life – and especially life for the unborn.
There are no confrontational activities, but some cities have reported
a 28% drop in local abortions following vigils. For information
or to participate in the closing services call 916-955-1577.
Saturday, November 3, 8 AM to 10 PM, will see the Aglow International
Gold Area’s Fall Conference. Aglow International is a ministry
of women (that now includes the men in their lives) ministering
through prayer and service in more than one hundred sixty nations.
The one-day event will feature Redding area Pastors Kim and Mary
Andersson as keynote speakers, along with Ben Eiesland, of New Hope
Fellowship, leading worship. The conference location is the Gloryland
Revival Center in Sacramento. The Anderssons, who minister internationally
as well as pastoring a small church, are featured on PrayNorthState
Radio in November as well.
Lake County Gathered Churches will host a conference November 8-10
in Clearlake. Dick Joyce will keynote the event titled A New Anointing
for a New Day. The conference is open to all Christians –
whether from Lake County or not – and anyone interested should
call 707-994-4890 for information.
Also in Sacramento – all Christians are invited to join together
to pray for the state and nation on the first Saturday of every
month at Capitol Christian Center – Room S-1 – at 9470
Micron Avenue in Sacramento; at Adventure Christian Church –
Fireside Room – at 6401 Stanford Ranch Road in Roseville –
both at 7 AM; at First Baptist Church of El Grove – Room E101
– at 8939 East Stockton Blvd in Elk Grove – at 7:30
AM; and at Fair Oaks Presbyterian Church – Wells Chapel –
at 11427 Fair Oaks Blvd in Fair Oaks – at 4 PM.
Also in Sacramento – on the third Saturday of each month
all Christians are invited to gather at the Rose Garden/Vietnam
Veteran’s Memorial at the State Capitol to pray for the state.
Prayer begins at 8:30 AM.
California’s Governor recently signed into law a group of
bills that – taken together – will compel the state’s
public schools to present alternative family arrangements (including
families led by homosexual parents) as of equal desirability with
more traditional arrangements. These new laws also imply penalties
for public school personnel who may choose to speak out against
these arrangements, and the possible threat of sanctions against
clergy who preach Biblical ethical values if the pattern followed
in Europe and Canada is instructive. They offer – at best
– serious threats to freedom of both religion and speech in
California. The Governor’s Prayer Team hosts conference calls
each weekday at 5 AM and prays over these and other issues. They
can be contacted at califgpt@gmail.com and at 530-870-6906.
In addition, Capitol Resource Family Impact – a lobbying
and education group staffed by Christians – has begun a referendum
process on these new laws. We do not normally involve ourselves
in political issues – and we are not involved in this one
in any direct way – but we do feel obligated to direct interested
readers of this newsletter to Karen England for information or to
become involved, if they so desire. Capitol Resource Family Impact
is located at 660 J Street, Suite 250, in Sacramento. (Donations
are not tax deductible.) Karen England may be contacted at kengland@capitolresource.org
and more information may be obtained by calling Meredith Turney
at 916-498-1940.
Popular worship leaders and singer-songwriters Brian and Jennifer
Johnson are offering free downloads of two of their most popular
songs – Where You Go I’ll Go and You Have Ravished My
Heart. The songs can be downloaded at brianandjennjohnson.com for
a limited time. The code 2freesongs must be used.
Christian music pioneers Bob Kilpatrick and Randy Stonehill offer
a series of concerts to benefit the Harvest Network – a ministry
that facilitates missionaries. The events will be held on Friday,
November 23, at Paradise First Baptist Church (530-877-3532); Saturday,
November 24, at Community Baptist Church in Red Bluff (530-527-4203);
Sunday, November 25, at Woodland Bible Church (530-666-6045); and
Monday, November 26, at Oroville Church of the Nazarene (530-533-7464).
All concerts begin at 7 PM and there is no admission, although love
offerings will be taken to benefit the Harvest Network.
UPCOMING PrayNorthstate EVENTS
PrayNorthState brings Building A House of Prayer: Some Assembly
Required to Oceanview Baptist Church in Crescent City the weekend
of February 8-10. Jim will make a January trip to Crescent City
to seed vision for that event as well. The weekend conference seeks
to help participants make unceasing prayer a lifestyle as natural
as breathing. There is focus on prayer as ongoing conversation with
God, but at least equal emphasis is given to pragmatic prayer for
community transformation, healing, and seeking vision for personal
and corporate life. Hands on experience is included at every step
– along with tips about documenting and proclaiming results.
Prophetic Acts With Impact comes to the Pacific Northwest the weekend
of February 15-16. The training for Paah-ho-ammi, Bible Reading
Marathons, and Prayer Vanguard ministries is hosted by Word of His
Grace Church in Seattle, Washington. The teaching will be offered
in Henderson, North Carolina, the weekend of March 28-29. Watch
the newsletter for more details.
Jim and Diana plan to travel to Fiji and New Zealand from February
21 through March 9. The purpose of this trip is to introduce the
ministries of Teen Challenge to Fiji, and Carenet Pregnancy Centers
to both nations – at the request of local leaders with whom
we work. Dr. Ken Greenlee will be on the trip as well, to introduce
Healing Rooms to Fiji. We ask prayer from all of you as we prepare
for this extraordinary travel. At the same time, international travel
is not included in the operating budget of PrayNorthState. Everyone
reading our newsletter and feeling led to contribute to this mission
is welcome to contact us for information or to make a donation.
Contact info is on the back cover.
Anyone desiring to participate or to gain a fuller picture of any
current or upcoming events should go to the PrayNorthstate web site
at www.praynorthstate.org or call us at 530-941-3470.
ANNUAL APPEAL
As all of you know, we do not make appeals for funding throughout
the year. The only time we cite the financial needs of this ministry
is each November when we send a report of our activities and a request
for pledges and one-time gifts for the upcoming year. It is that
time again and our annual appeal and stewardship report will be
out in the next two weeks. We ask that our people of prayer begin
seeking the Lord now as to how He would call you to support us in
2008. Please consider not so much the needs, but the unique opportunity
we represent to share what God is doing over radio and television,
to call the Body to prayer in times of emergency – as in the
wildfires – and in times of commitment – as in Paah-ho-ammi,
National Day of Prayer, and the Bible Reading Marathons we facilitate,
and the unique gifting of PrayNorthState for cooperating with and
encouraging leaders and ministries to share with and up-build the
Body.
Please pray for our leaders and media sponsors:
Please pray for PrayNorthstate’s Board: Jim and Diana Wilson,
Dr. Andre Van Mol, Mollie Wilson, Charles Davidson, Charlie Harper,
Bob Newell, and Frank DiSalvo. Pray for Exec. Assistant Elizabeth
Peterson. Pray for Taylor Motors, Hue and Cry Security, Dr. Andre
Van Mol, Redding Custom Home Theatre, Nicolet Glass, TriCord Marketing,
Ron Largent and Keller Williams Realtors, Carl Van Dyke Allstate
Insurance, Fox 30/Cable 2 TV, Crown Motors, Children First Foster
Family Agency, Oregon Street Tea Company, Jim Wilson Motors, Gallagher’s
Heating and Air, Furniture Depot, Dr. Scott Kremer, George Growney
Motors, Mercy Medical Centers in Redding, and Dr. Todd Royse. Pray
for Imago Dei Ministries, Carenet Pregnancy Centers and LifeLight
Pregnancy Center.
