Dear People of the Northstate Vision:

One miracle underway in our life is that Jim’s manuscript for If My People – the book on multi dimensional reconciliation that God downloaded in 2003 when we were in Hawaii – has been accepted for publication by Destiny Image. Anyone who knows the publishing industry knows the overwhelming odds against acceptance of a first-time author by an established house. The odds are increased exponentially when the work is only submitted to three publishers. God even exercised His sense of humor when Jim asked if he might attend a popular Christian writers’ conference in hopes of meeting some likely editors and publishers. The Lord of Life’s answer was a simple, “You don’t need to do that.” He had it covered.

Make no mistake – there is no way that human effort generates this kind of favor. We are looking at a total miracle. In terms of improbability it is a lot like leading a man to walk on water, turning a human heart away from a lifetime lifestyle of self centrality to focus on God and His people, or raising a man from the dead. Such things do not happen in the ordinary course of events; yet we dedicate and bet our lives on the fact that they did and do. They did and do because we serve a God as all-loving as He is all-capable.

Easter is coming on April 8. It follows the awful work of Good Friday – which follows the sublime love displayed in the washing of feet and the introduction of the Lord’s Supper the night before. That love is at its most dynamic and battle hardened in the mighty submission of the Cross. But it is at its most improbable when He returns to claim those who tortured Him on the third day after. Our sinful history is a failed effort to achieve self-salvation. He says, “You don’t need to do that.” He has it covered.
