The Rev. Jerry Bowers, Exec. Director
Members of the Board, Pray California
Dear Jerry and Fellow Board Members:
It has been my great privilege to serve as a member of this board, as a regional facilitator, and as the facilitator of the Listening Team for some time now. I have been deeply honored by the opportunity to work with each of you to give shape to the prayer movement in our state, and to share in the crafting of such projects as the schools of prayer and the I-5 Project. The times when we have come together to seek the Lord and worship Him have been the sweetest of all. We have seen the Lord release potent revelation and mighty works through our shared efforts.
At the same time, I have had a concern for some time that we have not paid the kind of attention to protocol – personal, spiritual, and administrative – that we claim in our statements about how we conduct our ministry. Although I speak only for myself, I know that I am not alone in holding this concern. I have sought the Lord – and the counsel of others – in this matter, and have been satisfied that I am called to stay the course as a member of this leadership team with but one exception. Regrettably, that exception has now come to pass and integrity calls me to conscientious action.
In January members of this board held a meeting that was contrary to the by-laws of Pray Cal – and thus of the laws under which we are incorporated in California. We are called to render unto Ceasar that which belongs to him; yet the board declines to repudiate this action. I am left with no choice but to resign my Pray Cal positions – effective immediately. May God bless all of you and show to you nothing but His love.
Yours in Christ,
The Rev. James A. Wilson
