Dear People of the Northstate Vision:
By now you will have read the June Newsletter and its summary of the Fiji trip.
The biggest news of that trip – and the most profound Praise the Lord –
is that transformation has now begun to impact the Asian Indian communities of Fiji;
before it was only being felt in the Melanesian or indigenous parts of the country.
That is a bigger miracle than the hundreds of decisions for Jesus and the hundreds of
healings that we witnessed – because it paves the way for thousands of decisions.
Our team was an influence on that process, but the Fijians made the decision to do this
outreaching and reconciling in their own dynamic relation to the living God.
Jim delivered seven addresses in six days, saw signs and wonders he cannot wait to share,
and made friends he will never forget.There is a strong desire on the part of leaders for
us to return – and we cannot wait to go back (Diana too this time) when God calls again.
God answered Jim’s prayer to be a bearer of signs and wonders when in Fiji.
Please praise the Lord and be in prayer with us that in returning he bears the hunger of
the Fijians for God to come and that such hunger overwhelms us in California.
We write to ask also for your prayers and support as we prepare for our trip to Sweden in August.
We go to attend the 6th World Christian Gathering on Indigenous Peoples in Kiruna
– a small city of Samdi or Laplanders inside the Arctic Circle. We go bearing the
message that the transformation we have witnessed in Fiji, in Hawaii, and (through hearing
first-hand accounts) in Uganda is triggered by the repentance and initiation of reconciliation
by the indigenous peoples themselves.We hope for the opportunity to share our story with
everyone there; we plan to go and worship and love the Lord in company with our friends of
every tribe and nation regardless of the degree to which we are permitted this sharing.
We need to raise $5000.00 that we do not now have to get the two of us there and back again.
This is an opportunity for all of you to cover and raise us up in prayer – and for some
of you to actually provide the financial support to make it happen – and so to be part
of something greater than our region that will significantly impact our region.
Every instance of transformation in the world to date – save one – has taken
place in an indigenous community. The first nations peoples – those who already know
the Lord – are the designated ones to lead out in the plans of our God to bring about
His Kingdom –as they themselves discover and embrace the depths of their own need for
Him.
But anything we do to help awaken that hunger in them can only result in more abundant life
for ourselves as well.
The prayers and the monies generated by the people of the northstate vision were well spent
in Fiji – they will be as well spent in Sweden – and Diana and I thank each of you
in advance for whatever God may call you to contribute to this effort. Of course all gifts are
tax deductible.
There is another Praise the Lord brewing – as well as a major league occasion for
consistent, concerted, and focused prayer – prayer of the earthworm variety.You all know
that the strategy of Pray California for this calendar year – and we have had a hand in both
designing and implementing this strategy – has been to call out rolling concerts of prayer
up and down the state. Each California county has been assigned at least one week to pray for the
blessing and repentance of the state and for leaders to choose a culture of life with which to
displace the culture of death in our state.Jim has led interdenominational teams of prayer walkers
to the state capitol every other month for prayer inside the capitol and a celebration of the
Lord’s supper.Other ministries – including the Sacramento Healing Rooms and National
Day of Prayer leaders – have visited the capitol both with and without us.The fruit is
beginning to come into the bin.
AB 19 – the Gay Marriage Bill – is dead. The bill to legalize assisted suicide has
been withdrawn from the assembly – although supporters seek passage in the senate and then
back into the assembly as an amendment to a bill in conference. (Stiff and unexpected opposition
is also expected in the senate. Both of these bills expected a smooth passage when they were
introduced.)
An amendment to the state constitution would dramatically alter Proposition 71 – the
embryonic stem cell research initiative – removing incentives to profit from death and
mislead participants in the research.(This is much bigger than it appears to be.) It would be
as wrong to think victory is God’s at this time as it would be to think the Doolittle
Raid on Tokyo won World War II – but that raid did set in motion a series of events
leading to victory in the Pacific.The atmosphere over the capitol is beginning to change in
a way that leads more of our legislators to begin to listen to God first.The choice for life
is underway – but consistent prayer for (not against) these lawmakers is more crucial
now than ever before.
Please praise the Lord and pray hard for favor for the Christian lawmakers and for a God-ward
atmosphere in the state capitol.
All of the funds for Fiji came in within a month of our last alert and appeal. We trust in the
Lord for the same sort of provision with this larger amount.We trust Him also for the movement of
our state leaders to choose life over death. More than that we are trusting the Lord that He is
orchestrating these activities for His own purposes in bringing the Kingdom to Northern California
and to the whole state as well.
