Dear People of
the Northstate Vision:
When you received
your December PrayNorthstate newsletter the center insert (WHAT’S
UP IN THE NORTHSTATE) described three Pray
California
endorsed prayer initiatives planned through the month of January.
(As you know, Diana and I are the northern regional
facilitators for Pray
California
. I also serve on the
team that screens these initiatives for
Pray
Cal
.) More detailed
information was promised for later, and today is later.
Only the so-called Mandala Project requires updating and
clarification. This
prayer project is also known as the I-5 Project, because the
significance of Interstate 5 in its execution.
The sand mandala (also spelled Mandela) will be poured into
the
Los Angeles
Harbor
on the afternoon of Sunday, January 4 at approximately
2:00 PM
. Pray
California
is asking all of us to set aside some time – preferably an hour,
but that is left to individual discretion – between the hours of
10:00 AM
and
2:00 PM
on Saturday, January 3. We
are asking that no one pray against
the mandala – but that prayer be offered
for the Kingdom outbreaking in California as that is described
in Matthew 11:2-5 (dead raised, lepers cleansed, deaf and blind
restored and the poor hear good news) with special reference to
Matthew 11:6 – that California would be governed at all levels
– spiritual, political and economic – by people who are not
offended at Jesus Christ. (Prayer
that those making and pouring the mandala would be set free is
both appropriate and fruitful as well.)
We have found that laying down a carpet of prayer on the
day before an event
like the pouring out of the mandala has a most dynamic impact for
blessing.
All of you are encouraged to pray wherever you are during that
time on January 3. Prayer
on the 4th is certainly welcomed as well.
As many as are able are urged to gather in small groups in
homes and churches and raise your voices of praise and petition to
the Lord in that more corporate setting.
Some intercessors have already been deployed to pray at
selected overpasses of Interstate 5 – a minimum of one in each
county through which the interstate passes.
I-5 bisects the state and is a most strategic artery in
many ways. People
going to the overpasses are instructed to bring no banners or
displays of any kind – law enforcement is understandably
sensitive about people congregating or demonstrating on bridges
– and to refrain from actually going onto the overpasses for the
same reason. If you
want to be part of this aspect of the project please contact me
before making any plans – but know also that things are already
covered and you would be augmenting what we already have by your
participation.
We don’t know what God is going to do with our prayers – or
with the mandala for that matter.
(One year when a similar event was planned by the Buddhist
monks He simply called up a wind and blew the sand back onto the
beach.) But we do
know that what some intend for evil God will transform for good
and for His glory. All
we have to do is pray. Let
us be faithful in that.
Yours in Christ,
The Rev. James A.
Wilson, PrayNorthstate

P. S.
Your January and February newsletters will contain
information – as it develops – regarding Mel Gibson’s The
Passion of Christ. For
the present, please be in prayer for the completion of
post-production details and for open hearts inside and outside the
churches for this monumental testament to what Jesus did for all
of us on the Cross. As
you know, Diana and I have seen the movie; it is a mighty offering
to our Lord.
